PSA Raises Grading Prices Again in 2026 — Is It Still Worth It?

PSA has raised grading prices again in 2026, with costs now ranging from $32.99 to $299 per card. We break down when PSA is worth it and when alternatives like BGS or CGC make more sense.

PSA Grading Prices Are Climbing Again in 2026

Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) has announced another round of price increases for 2026, continuing a trend that has frustrated budget-conscious collectors while reinforcing PSA's dominance in the grading market. With PSA commanding roughly 67% of all graded cards in circulation, the company continues to set the pace for the entire hobby.

Current Pricing Landscape

As of early 2026, PSA grading costs range from $32.99 to $299 per card depending on the service tier and turnaround time. By comparison, BGS (Beckett Grading Services) offers tiers from $14.95 to $124.95, while CGC remains competitive at similar price points. The gap between PSA and its competitors has widened, raising the question of whether the PSA premium is still worth it.

Does the PSA Premium Still Pay Off?

The data suggests it depends on what you are grading:

  • Modern Pokemon cards: PSA 10s still command a premium over CGC equivalents, though the gap has narrowed from 20-25% to just 5-10% over the past two years.
  • Sports cards: PSA 10s sell for 10-30% more than BGS 9.5 equivalents, making the premium worthwhile for high-value submissions.
  • Vintage cards: BGS Black Label 10s can actually command 115-140% of PSA 10 prices, making BGS the better choice for elite vintage cards.

AI-Assisted Grading Is Here

One notable development is PSA's integration of AI-assisted grading technology, designed to improve consistency and potentially reduce turnaround times. While purists may have concerns, the move signals that the industry is embracing technology to handle the massive volume of submissions that continues to grow year over year.

Grading is an investment in your collection. With prices rising, it is more important than ever to be strategic about which cards you submit and which service you choose.
