Mega Meganium, Emboar, and Feraligatr ex Boxes Hit Shelves April 24
Four new Mega Evolution - Ascended Heroes products drop on April 24: a Booster Bundle and three Mega ex Boxes featuring the Johto and Unova second-stage starters. Here is what is in each product and which will move fastest.
Three days from now, on April 24, 2026, Pokemon releases the next wave of products from the Mega Evolution - Ascended Heroes expansion. The drop includes a Booster Bundle and three Mega ex Boxes featuring fan favorites Meganium, Emboar, and Feraligatr - the second-stage fire, water, and grass starters from Johto and Unova that are finally getting their Mega spotlight.
The Four Products Dropping April 24
This is a focused release, and each product targets a different collector profile. Here is what is hitting shelves:
Mega Evolution - Ascended Heroes Booster Bundle
The Booster Bundle is the simplest value play: six Mega Evolution - Ascended Heroes booster packs at a standard price point. This is the product most card shops will move in volume. Expect an MSRP of around $26.94 at mass retail, with local game stores typically matching within a dollar or two. If you already have a sense of what you want to chase from the set and you are not interested in a sealed promo, the Booster Bundle is the best pack-per-dollar option.
Mega Meganium ex Box
The Meganium ex Box includes a playable foil promo card of Mega Meganium ex, an oversize lenticular card with dynamic artwork, and four booster packs from the Mega Evolution - Ascended Heroes expansion. Meganium has long been a sentimental favorite among Johto fans, and this is the first time a Mega version has appeared in the TCG. Expect strong demand from the Johto collector crowd, especially during the first week.
Mega Emboar ex Box
Same format as the Meganium box - a foil promo, a lenticular oversize card, and four booster packs - but built around Mega Emboar. Emboar's Mega form has been a talking point since the video game reveal for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and the card art has already circulated on social media ahead of release.
Mega Feraligatr ex Box
Rounds out the Johto-and-Unova starter trio with Mega Feraligatr. Same contents as the other two Mega ex boxes.
Why Ascended Heroes Matters
Ascended Heroes launched in English on January 30, 2026, and with 295 cards it is the largest Pokemon TCG expansion ever printed in English. The set is themed around the video game Pokemon Legends: Z-A and features new cards based on Pokemon and characters introduced in that game, with a heavy emphasis on Mega Evolution Pokemon ex and Trainer's Pokemon cards with new illustrations.
For collectors, that 295-card checklist is both an opportunity and a commitment. Master sets from Ascended Heroes are substantially more work than a typical Scarlet & Violet era set, but the trade-off is a deeper pool of chase cards, secret rares, and illustration rares to pursue. The April 24 drop gives chase hunters two more opportunities to pull late-set hits.
What to Watch in the Secondary Market
- Booster Bundle EV. With such a large set, the expected value of a six-pack bundle is going to swing hard on whether anyone pulls a late-set chase card. Expect street prices to hold through the weekend, then settle.
- Mega ex promo cards. The sealed promos in each box will command a premium singles price for nostalgic collectors who do not want to risk pack odds. Meganium is the likely lead in that market.
- Oversize lenticular cards. These rarely see heavy secondary market action, but sealed boxes held long-term often appreciate modestly when the set is retired.
Should You Buy on Release Day
If you are chasing specific singles from Ascended Heroes, buying sealed boosters is almost always a worse deal than buying the cards you want directly. If you are a set collector or a sealed collector, April 24 is a good day to pick up exactly what you want before the mass-retail rush thins out the shelves over the following weekend. Your best bet for finding the boxes you want at MSRP is a local card shop, where allocation tends to favor regulars and you can often avoid the scalper mark-ups that appear on online marketplaces in the first 48 hours.
For shop owners: allocate carefully. The three-box split means players will often want one specific box rather than the full trio, and demand will be uneven between Meganium, Emboar, and Feraligatr based on your local fan base.
