Bowman Football Preorders Are Live: $289.99 Hobby Boxes, a September 30 Release, and a Rookie Card That Pays Out

Topps opened preorders for 2026 Bowman Football yesterday at 1 p.m. ET, and the product details answer most of the questions that had been floating since the Arch Manning announcement. The release date is September 30, not the early-September window some retailers had listed. A hobby box is $289.99 with two autographs. And Bowman Football is bringing something new to the sport: Red Rookie Redemption cards that pay out in FanCash when a player hits career milestones.

The Formats and Prices

• Value Box: $29.99. Six packs of 10 cards. Autographs possible but not guaranteed. Limit 10 per cart.
• Mega Box: $64.99. Six packs of six cards, with exclusive parallels.
• Hobby Box: $289.99. Twenty packs of eight cards, two autographs per box.
• Jumbo Box: $499.99. Twelve packs of 24 cards, four autographs per box. Limit four per cart.
• Mega Box Sealed Case: $1,299.99 for 20 boxes. Limit two.
• Jumbo Box Sealed Case: $3,999.99 for eight boxes.

Preorder items ship separately from anything else in the same Topps.com order, and you need a Topps account to buy. Hobby shops will have hobby and jumbo allocations through distribution on the same September 30 date.

What Is in the Set

The base checklist is 400 cards, split into two halves. The first 200 are NFL veterans and 2026 rookies: Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Cam Ward, Ashton Jeanty, Travis Hunter, Jaxson Dart, and Shedeur Sanders on the veteran side, and Fernando Mendoza, Ty Simpson, Garrett Nussmeier, Carson Beck, Drew Allar, and Cade Klubnik leading the rookies.

The second 200 are Bowman Prospects: college players, with Arch Manning added late as card No. 201. The prospect roster includes Bryce Underwood, CJ Carr, LaNorris Sellers, Marcel Reed, Cam Coleman, Jared Curtis, Demond Williams Jr., and Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele. Anyone appearing on a Bowman card for the first time carries the 1st Bowman logo, which is the entire reason Bowman as a brand exists.

This is the first fully licensed Bowman Football release in a decade, and the first to put NFL and NCAA players in one product. It follows the model Topps used for Bowman Basketball earlier this year.

Autographs and Inserts

Base Chrome Autographs cover the NFL veterans and rookies listed above. The prospect autograph checklist is where the long-term money is, because a 1st Bowman Chrome auto of a quarterback who goes No. 1 in 2027 or 2028 is the football equivalent of a Bowman Chrome baseball prospect auto, and that market is the most proven one in the hobby.

The 1955 All-American Autograph Variations put legends on college-era designs: Barry Sanders, Dan Marino, Emmitt Smith, Ray Lewis, and Steve Young are confirmed. Non-auto inserts include Spotlights, Crystallized, Etched In Glass, Anime, and, for the first time in football, Garbage Pail Kids. The prospect side has Gen Next, Talent Tracker, and Very Important Prospects.

Red Rookie Redemption, Explained

This is the genuinely new idea. Select short-printed rookie cards are designated Bowman Red Rookie Redemption cards. If the featured player reaches a designated career milestone, starting with NFL Rookie of the Year, the card holder can redeem it for FanCash, the Fanatics reward currency. Topps has not published the full terms or the reward amounts yet.

Think of it as a card with a built-in prop bet attached. Bowman has run versions of this in baseball. In football, where Rookie of the Year is decided in one season rather than over years of prospect development, the payoff timeline is much shorter. Expect the Red Rookie Redemption cards for Mendoza and the other first-round quarterbacks to carry a premium from day one, and expect that premium to swing weekly with the standings.

Should You Preorder?

The hobby box math is straightforward: $289.99 for two autographs and 160 cards. That is cheaper than Flagship Football's hobby configuration and much cheaper than Chrome. The question is whether the two autos are likely to be prospects you care about, and with a 200-card prospect checklist plus a 200-card NFL checklist all sharing the auto pool, the answer for most boxes is "probably not the one you wanted."

If you want Manning, buy Manning singles after release. If you want Mendoza, his Flagship cards are already out and his Bowman cards will not be scarcer. If you want to prospect the 2027 and 2028 draft classes at the ground floor, this is the product for that, and a jumbo box with four autos is the better per-hit price. If you just want to rip football cards with your kids, the $29.99 Value Box with a real shot at an auto is one of the better entry points Topps has offered this year.
