Card Show Weekend Preview July 18-19: Collect-A-Con Minneapolis, Fanatics Fest's Final Days, and Pitch Black Everywhere
Collect-A-Con brings 900-plus vendor tables to Minneapolis July 18-19 while Fanatics Fest NYC runs through Sunday, Pitch Black launches Friday, and the World Cup final caps the weekend. How to plan the most scattered hobby weekend of the summer.
The Hobby Is Everywhere at Once This Weekend
The July 18 to 19 weekend might be the single most geographically scattered moment of the hobby summer: a major Collect-A-Con in the Midwest, Fanatics Fest filling the Javits Center in New York, MagicCon running in Amsterdam, Pokemon's biggest set of the season hitting shelves Friday, and the World Cup final closing everything out Sunday. Wherever you are, something collectible is happening within driving distance or on a screen. Here is the plan of attack.
Collect-A-Con Minneapolis, July 18-19
The weekend's anchor card show lands at the Minneapolis Convention Center with more than 900 vendor tables spanning Pokemon, sports cards, Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh, One Piece, Lorcana, comics, and vintage toys, plus celebrity guests and anime voice actors. It runs 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Collect-A-Con floors have been reliable barometers of the TCG market all year, and this one arrives 24 hours after Pitch Black launches, meaning fresh singles and sealed product will be everywhere and priced with launch-weekend confidence. Haggle accordingly.
Fanatics Fest NYC Runs Through Sunday
Fanatics Fest opened its week-long format Thursday and runs through July 19, with the exclusive Topps drops, the Card Combine, and a guest lineup headlined by Tom Brady and a two-day LeBron James appearance. If you are within reach of New York and only care about sports cards, this is the room. Expect the exclusives to hit eBay within hours of each drop, with the usual flip-premium decay by early next week.
Pitch Black Launch Day at Your Local Shop
Friday, July 17 is the day trip that matters most for Pokemon collectors. Mega Evolution - Pitch Black hits shelves everywhere, and if the last three Mega Evolution launches are the guide, big-box retail sells through in a weekend. Local card shops are the play: launch events, prerelease leftovers, and allocation that did not get scalped. Call ahead, and check our shop directory for stores running launch weekend events.
Sunday: The World Cup Final
The 2026 World Cup final kicks off at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, July 19, the busiest soccer card sales day of the year. If you hold cards of either finalist, have listings live before kickoff. The champion's stars will spike into Monday; the runner-up side historically gives back most of its bracket premium within 48 hours.
This is the weekend the summer hobby calendar has been pointing at since June. The only mistake is trying to do all of it.
Pick your lane, set a budget before you walk in, and remember that the National in Rosemont is only ten days behind this weekend. Pace your wallet.
