Auction Weekend: Goldin Elite Closes Tonight With a Signed Goudey Ruth, a Clemente Rookie, and a '57 Mantle

Three major auctions close within 24 hours: Goldin's Elite hammers July 11 with a signed 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth, a 1955 Topps Clemente rookie, and a 1957 Topps Mantle, while Heritage's Summer Sports Catalog and Iconic's July sale wrap the same weekend.

Three Major Auctions Close Inside 24 Hours

This weekend is one of the most concentrated auction windows of the summer. Goldin's Elite auction, which has been running since June 16, hammers tonight, July 11. Heritage's Summer Sports Card Catalog auction wrapped across July 10 and 11. And Iconic Auctions closes its autographs, trading cards, and memorabilia sale on July 11, entering its open-ended 30-minute-rule mode at 10 p.m. Eastern.

The Goldin Elite Headliners

The Elite is Goldin's showcase for what it calls elite and timeless treasures, and this edition backs up the branding with three vintage monsters:

  • 1933 Goudey #144 Babe Ruth, signed. A signed Goudey Ruth combines two of the most demanded assets in the hobby: the definitive vintage Ruth card and an authenticated signature from the Sultan of Swat.
  • 1955 Topps #164 Roberto Clemente rookie. The Clemente rookie has been one of the strongest vintage performers of the decade, and high-grade examples have repeatedly set records at recent auctions.
  • 1957 Topps #95 Mickey Mantle. The '57 Mantle remains one of the most aesthetically beloved cards of the postwar era, with its clean portrait and notoriously condition-sensitive borders.

Why This Weekend Matters Beyond the Hammer Prices

Vintage results in July land at a telling moment. The high-end market has spent 2026 diverging from the middle: seven-figure sales keep coming while mid-range modern has softened. A strong close for the Ruth, Clemente, and Mantle would extend the pattern that celebrity-grade vintage remains the hobby's safest harbor. A soft close would be the first meaningful crack in that narrative this year.

How to Follow Along

Extended bidding is where these auctions are actually decided. Goldin's Elite format pushes final bidding deep into the night, and Iconic's 30-minute rule means lots stay live as long as bidders keep firing. If you are watching a specific lot, the posted end time is when the drama starts, not when it ends.

Auction weekends like this are the hobby's scoreboard. Whatever the market narrative says, the hammer prices are the facts.

Full results should circulate by Monday, and we will be watching whether the vintage big three deliver another round of headline numbers heading into Fanatics Fest week.
