Mega Heracross ex Drop Event Is Live in Pokemon TCG Pocket: How to Farm Promo Pack B Vol. 8 Before May 22

Pokemon TCG Pocket's newest limited-time event is live through May 22, with four solo battles dropping the new Promo Pack B Series Vol. 8. Here is how the drop rates stack up, which decks clear Expert fastest, and whether the Shinedust math is worth grinding.

Pokemon TCG Pocket's newest limited-time event is live. The Mega Heracross ex Drop Event kicked off Tuesday, May 12, and runs through Friday, May 22, giving players a ten-day window to farm Promo Pack B Series Vol. 8 and add the new Mega Heracross ex Promo-B card to their collection.

How the Event Works

The event is structured around four solo battles ranging from Beginner through Expert difficulty. Each battle is a one-time guaranteed pack drop, with subsequent wins offering a chance — but not a guarantee — at additional Promo Pack B Vol. 8 packs. Higher difficulties carry meaningfully better follow-up drop rates.

  • Beginner: lowest drop rate after first clear, easiest deck check
  • Intermediate: moderate drop rate, accessible deck requirements
  • Advanced: strong drop rate, recommended for daily grinding
  • Expert: highest follow-up drop rate, requires a tuned deck

What's in Promo Pack B Vol. 8?

The new Promo-B pool for this event includes five chase cards across multiple rarity tiers. Drop rates haven't been fully datamined for community confirmation yet, but the obvious target is Mega Heracross ex at the top of the chase ladder:

  • Mega Heracross ex — the headline pull, 720 Shinedust on duplicate
  • Zarude — secondary chase, 240 Shinedust on duplicate
  • Castform Sunny Form — promo art card, 20 Shinedust on duplicate
  • Tepig — Promo-B basic, 20 Shinedust on duplicate
  • Dwebble — Promo-B basic, 20 Shinedust on duplicate

Shinedust Math: Is the Grind Worth It?

For dedicated daily players, the duplicate Shinedust math actually pencils out. Hitting Mega Heracross ex on a repeat is 720 dust — enough to pull a single Flair art rarity bump on a card you already own. Stacking duplicates of the lower-rarity cards adds up surprisingly quickly if you're consistent through the full ten-day window.

Recommended Deck Targets

The Expert difficulty battle leans heavily on disruption, so meta decks built around aggressive setup typically clear faster than control variants. Community consensus right now points to:

  • Mega Lucario ex (Pulsing Aura) — strong tempo, clean prize trades against the AI
  • Mega Greninja ex (Chaos Rising preview) — spread damage works against the Expert opponent's bench
  • Charizard ex (Pulsing Aura) — reliable, well-established Expert clearer

Shop Tickets and Event Currency

As with prior drop events, the in-event shop will remain available for one additional week after the May 22 end date so players can spend their event-only tickets. Don't sit on ticket inventory — if you're not going to redeem the Promo Pack B Vol. 8 packs from the shop, swap them for Shinedust and Pack Hourglasses before they expire on May 29.

This is a healthy mid-month event between Pulsing Aura's late-April launch and the eventual Mega Evolution Chaos Rising drop expected later this year on the Pocket release calendar. Worth playing.
