Pokemon TCG Pocket Pulsing Aura Launches April 27 With Mega Lucario, Mega Sceptile, and a New Gold Frame System

Pulsing Aura arrives on Pokemon TCG Pocket on April 27 with Mega Lucario and Mega Sceptile on the cover — and a new gold-frame flair system that retroactively rewards players who already own 10 copies of a card.

Pulsing Aura Is Coming — and It Is Changing How Flair Works

Pokemon TCG Pocket's next expansion, Pulsing Aura, drops on April 27, 2026, and the pre-release buzz has been building since The Pokemon Company pushed the first trailer earlier this month. The set leans hard into Fighting-types, with Mega Lucario and Mega Sceptile anchoring the cover art, but the headline for long-time players is a new feature that quietly changes how the game's flair economy works.

Gold Frames: The New Flex

Starting with Pulsing Aura, gold frames become a new flair option for any card at the diamond rarity tiers — that is the one-diamond, two-diamond, and three-diamond rarities. The key detail: you earn a gold frame automatically by collecting ten copies of the same card.

  • Gold frames work across every series, not just Pulsing Aura
  • Cards you already own ten or more of will be retroactively upgraded
  • Applies to ◆, ◆◆, and ◆◆◆ rarity cards

That last point is a big deal. Players who have been hoarding Pocket pulls for the last year are going to log in on launch day and find that a chunk of their collection has suddenly leveled up.

Cover Stars and Cards to Watch

Mega Lucario and Mega Sceptile both feature the stunning 3D artwork Pocket is now known for, and early card previews from Serebii show Vaporeon getting a shiny EX treatment that is already generating chatter. Kubfu and Urshifu are also in the set, leaning into the Fighting-type theme.

Elite Deck Missions Follow the Drop

Alongside the expansion, new Elite Deck Gift Missions run from late April through the end of July. The featured Elite Deck is a Fire-type build anchored by Mega Charizard Y ex from Crimson Blaze and Moltres ex from Genetic Apex — a fun callback for players who opened those older sets.

Pulsing Aura is shaping up to be one of the cleaner B3-era drops: a focused type theme, a memorable mechanic tweak, and enough chase cards to keep dailies interesting for weeks.

Physical or Digital?

TCG Pocket continues to drive casual and returning Pokemon fans to the physical hobby, and local shops have noticed. If Pulsing Aura sparks your interest in the broader Pokemon ecosystem — Mega Evolution sets, old WOTC-era staples, or sealed product — find a shop near you on The Card Shop Finder and see what they have in the case.
