Arch Manning Just Signed With Topps. Every Panini Card He Has Is Now a Closed Set.
Topps announced an exclusive trading card and autograph deal with Arch Manning on September 3, ending his record Panini NIL agreement a year early. His first Topps autographs land in Bowman Football on September 9. Here is what the deal does to the Manning cards already in circulation.
The most valuable autograph in college football just changed companies. On Thursday afternoon, September 3, Topps announced that Arch Manning has signed an exclusive trading card and autograph deal with Fanatics. His first Topps signatures land in 2026 Bowman Football, which releases September 9. Six days from announcement to product is not an accident. Topps wanted this card in the fall's first football release, and now it is.
For collectors, the deal does three things at once: it ends Manning's run with Panini, it makes every existing Manning autograph a fixed-supply item, and it puts the presumptive No. 1 pick of a future draft on the same company as the NFL license. Here is what changed and how to think about the cards already in your binder.
What Was Announced
Topps' announcement was short: an exclusive trading card and autograph deal, with the first autographs arriving in Bowman Football "this fall." SI's Collectibles desk had already reported Manning would have a signature in the product, but an appearance and an exclusive are very different things. An exclusive means no more new Panini autographs, no Leaf, no Wild Card, nothing outside the Fanatics umbrella for as long as the contract runs.
The Panini side of this is the part worth pausing on. Manning's first NIL deal after arriving at Texas in 2023 was a record $102,500 trading card agreement with Panini, and he extended it in 2025. Thursday's announcement ends that relationship a year early. Panini has been fighting Fanatics in court over the NFL and NBA licenses since 2023, and losing its most marketable college signer to the other side, in the same week Bowman Football ships, is the kind of thing that will show up in the next filing.
Why Manning Is Still in Austin
Manning was draft-eligible in April 2026 and chose to stay at Texas, announcing the decision in December 2025. That means the first Topps autographs are college cards, not NFL rookie cards. It also means that if he enters the 2027 draft as a projected top pick, Topps will have him from his Longhorns days straight through his first pro season with the NFL license in hand. That continuity is what Fanatics paid for.
The cards that matter most for Manning's long-term market do not exist yet. What exists today is a fixed pool of Panini autographs that will never get bigger.
The Panini Cards Just Became Finite
Every Manning autograph printed before this week now belongs to a closed set. That is not the same as saying they go up, but it removes the biggest overhang on any active player's card: the next product with a new signature. Card Ladder's top Manning sales give you a sense of where the high end sits.
- 2024 Prizm Draft Picks Gold Vinyl 1-of-1, PSA 10: sold for $20,000 by best offer in July 2025, then resold at Goldin seven weeks later for $34,160. It remains his top recorded sale.
- 2025 Prizm Draft Picks Black Prizm 1-of-1 patch auto, PSA 10: $18,733 at Alt on August 13, 2026. Card Ladder has it valued slightly higher at $19,530.
Those are 1-of-1s, and 1-of-1s behave differently from numbered parallels. The mid-tier is where the exclusive news will actually play out: the /25s, /49s and /99s from 2024 and 2025 Prizm Draft Picks, Select Draft Picks and Chronicles Draft Picks. Watch those over the next two weeks. If they lift, it is collectors repricing scarcity. If they do not, it is the market saying it would rather wait for the Topps rookie.
What to Expect in Bowman Football
2026 Bowman Football releases September 9 and follows the format Topps used for Bowman Basketball earlier this year: collegiate and pro players in the same product. Manning is the headline college signer, and the checklist also includes 2026 rookies like Fernando Mendoza. Expect Manning autographs to be short-printed relative to the pro rookies, because that is how Topps built demand for Bowman Basketball's college content.
Practical notes for the release week:
- Local shops will get allocations before mass retail. If you want a hobby box at MSRP, ask your shop this week, not on release day.
- The first week of any exclusive-signer product is the most expensive week to buy singles. The Cooper Flagg and Mendoza first-auto markets both cooled within 30 days of release.
- If Manning's Bowman autos are redemptions rather than live cards, factor in the wait. Topps has been shortening redemption windows, but "first signatures" products still carry them.
The Bigger Picture
Fanatics has spent 2026 locking up the athletes who move markets: Flagg's debut patch stayed in-house, Ohtani's dual Logoman went through a Fanatics-brokered sale, and now the next great quarterback prospect signs before he has thrown an NFL pass. The lesson for collectors is simple. When a player's card supply is about to consolidate under one company, the old cards from the other company stop being a growing set. That is the moment to decide whether you are holding or selling, and it is worth having that conversation with a shop that trades in these cards every week.
