Free Mewtwo Promo Starts Today: Spend $15 on Pokemon TCG at GameStop, Hot Topic and More

A Free Mewtwo Starts Today at Seven US Retailers

Pokemon's 30th Celebration is giving collectors a reason to walk into a store today. Starting October 2, 2026, spending $15 or more on Pokemon TCG products at participating retailers earns a free Mewtwo promo card as a gift with purchase.

Where the Promo Is Available

According to PokeGuardian's report on the promo, the US list includes GameStop, Hot Topic, Five Below, Barnes & Noble, Macy's and BoxLunch, with EB Games covering Canada and several retailers in Oceania. The offer applies in store and online, and it is only good while supplies last.

What You Get

• The card: a Mewtwo promo from the 30th Celebration, carrying a 30th Anniversary stamp with the "What's Your Favorite?" logo rather than store branding.
• The extra: a separate insert card with a QR code that links to information about the Pokemon Night Out experience.
• The threshold: $15 in Pokemon TCG product, which is roughly a booster bundle plus a pack or two.

How to Approach It

Store-wide promos tend to run out unevenly. Some locations will have stacks of cards on day one, and others will run dry by the weekend. If you want one, go early, ask at the register before you pay, and keep the receipt together with the card.

Because the stamp is not store-specific, expect collectors to treat every copy the same. That makes this a low-cost add-on rather than a chase, so it is better to think of it as a free bonus on a purchase you were going to make anyway.

Do Not Forget Your Local Shop

Big-box promos like this pull foot traffic toward chains, but independent card shops are where you will find sealed product, singles, and people who can tell you what is actually worth buying. Pair the free promo with a visit to a local shop for the rest of your 30th Celebration shopping.
