PSA Standard Opens Today. PSA Europe Opens Tomorrow. Here Is Why Frankfurt Matters to American Collectors.
The new $59.99 Standard tier goes live in the US on September 14, and on September 15 EU collectors can submit directly to a new PSA facility in Frankfurt. That second date pulls an entire continent of demand out of the queue American cards sit in.
Two PSA dates land back to back this week. Today, September 14, the new Standard service level goes live in the United States at $59.99 per card. Tomorrow, September 15 at 12:01 a.m. Central European Time, PSA starts accepting submissions from collectors across the European Union for local grading at its new facility in Frankfurt. The second date matters more for American collectors than it looks.
Standard opens today: the quick version

Standard is not a replacement for the paused Value tiers. PSA has been explicit about that. It is a middle rung between the closed budget tiers and the $79.99 Priority level (formerly Regular). If you have a card worth $200 to $800 that has been sitting in a stack waiting for Value to reopen, Standard is the first realistic option in months. If you have a $40 card, this still does not make sense, and SGC's temporary $50 base fee does not help either. Beckett's paused budget tiers are due back tomorrow, September 15, so that is worth watching.
Why PSA Europe matters to you
Until now, European collectors who wanted PSA grading either shipped internationally to the United States, went through a European dealer who consolidated submissions, or used PSA's Japan facility. All of those cards ended up in the same global queue that American submissions sit in. PSA's active global backlog is 9.9 million units as of last week.
Starting tomorrow, the Frankfurt facility will offer every globally available service level across cards, autographed cards, tickets and packs. European volume that would have flowed into the American backlog now has its own lane. PSA has been careful not to promise this shortens American turnarounds, but the math is straightforward: six global facilities instead of five, 40 percent more production than last year, and one entire continent of demand routed somewhere else.
The company has also framed Europe as a reason it can reopen tiers in phases. The line from PSA is that sequencing the reopening lets them model demand accurately and avoid another submission spike. Frankfurt is part of the capacity that makes the next phase possible.
What is open as of today
For US submissions, the current service level board is Standard at $59.99, Priority at $79.99 (70 to 80 business days, $1,500 max), Express at $199 (20 to 30 business days, $2,500 max), and Premier at $599 (7 to 10 business days, $10,000 max, formerly Walk-Through). Higher tiers above Premier remain available for high-value cards. Value and Bulk remain paused. Orders already in progress are graded under the terms they were submitted with.
Practical advice for this week
- Do not rush Standard on day one. Standard orders queue behind Value and Bulk. Submitting today versus next week will not change much, and early submission surges are exactly what PSA says it is trying to avoid.
- Use a PSA dealer or a drop-off event if you have several cards. Authorized dealers and shows often get better logistics than mailing a single order, and you skip the shipping-insurance headache.
- Grade cards that clear the math. At $59.99 plus shipping both ways, the card needs to gain roughly $100 in a PSA 9 or 10 to be worth it.
