Yu-Gi-Oh Rarity Collection V Hits Shelves April 17 With Extended Art and a Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon Chase

Konami's most anticipated Yu-Gi-Oh release of the year finally lands tomorrow. Here is what collectors need to know about the new Extended Art cards, the Quarter Century Secret Rare reprints, and what to chase on launch weekend.

Rarity Collection V Finally Hits Shelves Tomorrow

After a short delay from its original April 10 street date, Yu-Gi-Oh! Rarity Collection V officially goes on wide sale tomorrow, April 17, 2026. Official Tournament Stores got early allocations on April 15, and the online secondary market is already moving fast on the flagship chase cards.

This is the fifth installment in Konami's Rarity Collection series, and on paper it is the most collector-friendly release the TCG has put out in years. Booster packs carry a suggested MSRP of $5.99, and a 24-pack booster box targets right around $143.76 at retail.

Extended Art Is the Big Swing

The headline feature of Rarity Collection V is the debut of Extended Art cards in the TCG. Unlike standard alternate art treatments, the new Extended Art frame pushes the artwork through the borders of the card, and on several cards the art even extends into the text box itself.

  • Ten fan-favorite cards get the Extended Art treatment, including Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon, Super Polymerization, and Dominus Purge.
  • Two distinct card pools: a 68-card variant art pool plus an 82-card main reprint pool, giving the set a total of roughly 150 slots to chase.
  • Quarter Century Secret Rares return, and they are already the cards driving early preorder chatter on Yugioh Meta and TCGplayer.

Why Collectors Are Paying Attention

Previous Rarity Collection releases have historically held their value well in the sealed market, and the extended art gimmick is the kind of visual hook that tends to drive long-term single-card demand. Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon in particular has been a meta staple for years, and a brand new Extended Art printing of that card is going to be one of the most talked about pulls of 2026.

If Rarity Collection IV taught collectors anything, it is that the flagship chase cards in this product line do not come back down quickly. Getting in on release weekend has historically been cheaper than waiting three months.

What Hobby Shops Should Do This Weekend

  1. Check your allocation early. Distributors have signaled tight case counts, and walk-in demand is expected to be strong on April 17.
  2. Consider single-pack pricing carefully. MSRP on packs is $5.99, but the secondary market for sealed packs has historically run well above retail for Rarity Collection releases.
  3. Promote the Extended Art hook. Even casual Yu-Gi-Oh fans who have not played a game in years will recognize Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon. That is a powerful pull for new collectors.

The Bottom Line for Collectors

Rarity Collection V is shaping up to be the most-hyped Yu-Gi-Oh product of the year, and it is launching into a market that has plenty of disposable collector income chasing multi-game releases. If you plan to rip boxes tomorrow, show up early. If you plan to buy singles, set your price alerts now before the hype really lands.
