🃏 About This Event

Eckman's "Military Appreciation" Show returns to San Antonio on Saturday, May 8, 2027, and of all the themed dates on the Eckman's circuit this is the one most rooted in the city itself. San Antonio is Military City USA — Joint Base San Antonio spans Fort Sam Houston, Lackland and Randolph, and the active-duty, retired and veteran population here is enormous. A card show built around honoring that community lands differently in this market than it would anywhere else.

The show floor follows the Eckman's format of cards, comics and toys under one roof. Sports card dealers bring baseball, basketball, football and hockey inventory spanning vintage through modern — singles, team lots, rookies, inserts, autographs and graded slabs. Pokemon is consistently present, with Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh! and One Piece typically on the floor as well. The comic and toy vendors are a real part of the draw rather than filler, and military-themed non-sport material, vintage models and service memorabilia tend to surface at this particular date in a way they do not at the others.

This is a one-day Saturday show. Eckman's San Antonio dates have historically run daytime hours in the 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM range, but hours for this date are not yet posted. Eckman's admission is traditionally modest — a small door charge with children often free — and themed appreciation shows frequently include a discount or free entry for service members and veterans with ID. Confirm that directly with the organizer, since it has not been announced for 2027.

The venue is listed as to be announced. Eckman's rotates among San Antonio halls and community centers, and the location is typically published a few weeks out. Anyone planning around this date should watch for the venue drop in April and check parking at the same time.

The audience is broad. Military families are an obvious core, and a May date in San Antonio catches a lot of people with weekend time. Local collectors come for the same reason they attend every Eckman's date: it is a manageable, friendly room where vendors have time to talk. New collectors benefit enormously from that pace — a dealer who is not rushing a line will actually explain why one copy of a card grades higher than another. Families get an inexpensive Saturday out.

Tips for a one-day show: arrive at opening, because six or seven hours disappears quickly and the freshest material is on the table first. Bring cash in small bills. Bring a want list and stick to it. Bring sleeves and top-loaders for raw pickups. If you are a service member or veteran, bring your ID in case an admission discount is offered. And make a full lap before your first significant purchase — with no second day, comparison shopping has to happen up front.

Watch the Card Show Dex San Antonio calendar or Eckman's own announcements for venue, hours and admission details as the date nears.
