🃏 About This Event

The April edition of SA Collectors Expo runs the weekend of April 24 and 25, landing in what is arguably the best stretch of the year to attend a card show in San Antonio. Spring weather makes the drive pleasant, the baseball season is a few weeks old so new-season product and fresh rookie interest are in circulation, and the local hobby calendar is active enough that dealers are restocked and traveling. It is the second of five two-day Expo weekends scheduled for 2027.

Expect the Expo's usual wide collectibles floor. Sports cards lead, with MLB inventory getting particular attention in April — new releases, rookie cards, and vintage baseball all tend to get pushed to the front of cases in the spring. Basketball, football and hockey dealers are well represented too, across raw singles, team lots, autographs and graded slabs. Pokemon anchors the trading card game side, joined by Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh! and One Piece vendors. Memorabilia, comics, toys and anime merchandise fill out a floor that is deliberately broader than a cards-only room.

The Expo's two-day weekend pattern runs Saturday 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM and Sunday 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Those hours reflect the organizer's established format; this specific date is currently posted with more details to come, so confirm before finalizing plans.

The SA Shrine Auditorium has hosted the Expo's recent weekend shows and is the expected venue, with a large single-floor hall and on-site parking that makes the visit straightforward. As with the other 2027 dates, the venue has not been formally reconfirmed on the organizer's calendar yet.

April suits a particular kind of visit. If you collect baseball, this is the show to prioritize — spring shows reliably carry the deepest baseball inventory of the year. If you are a casual collector, the pleasant weather and two-day window make it an easy weekend outing rather than a chore. Families do well because the non-card vendors keep everyone occupied. And serious buyers get the structural advantage of a two-day show: see everything Saturday, negotiate Sunday.

Practical advice. Walk the full floor before committing to anything significant; on a floor this broad, the same card frequently appears at three different prices. Bring cash, which still earns real negotiating room. Bring a want list so the variety does not scatter you, and bring penny sleeves and top-loaders so raw pickups are protected immediately. Inspect centering, corners, edges and surfaces carefully on raw material — spring light in a hall is good light, so use it. If you are trading, bring your binder organized by set or player rather than loose.
