The Biggest Card Shows in America

The most important card shows in the US — The National, Dallas, Chantilly, and regional shows every collector should know about.

From local VFW hall shows to massive multi-day conventions with thousands of dealers, card shows are the heartbeat of the collecting hobby. Here are the biggest and most important card shows in America — the ones serious collectors plan their year around.

The National Sports Collectors Convention (NSCC)

The National is the Super Bowl of card shows. Held annually since 1980, it moves between major cities (Chicago, Cleveland, Atlantic City, and others in rotation) and draws hundreds of thousands of attendees over five days. The show floor spans hundreds of thousands of square feet with 500+ dealer tables, corporate booths from Panini, Topps, and Fanatics, autograph signings, auction previews, and exclusive show products.

If you go to one card show a year, make it The National. The inventory is unmatched — from $1 commons to $100,000 grails. The people-watching alone is worth the trip. Plan months ahead: book hotels early, budget aggressively (it's easy to overspend), and wear comfortable shoes for days of walking.

Dallas Card Show

The Dallas Card Show has grown into one of the largest monthly shows in the country. Held at a massive convention center, it draws dealers from across the South and beyond. The show has a strong social media presence and attracts a younger collector demographic alongside veteran dealers. Monthly frequency means you can make it a regular habit if you're in the DFW area.

Chantilly Card Show (Virginia)

The Chantilly show, held at the Dulles Expo Center in Northern Virginia, is one of the longest-running and most respected regional shows on the East Coast. It runs monthly and draws collectors from DC, Maryland, Virginia, and beyond. Strong vintage presence and a loyal dealer base make it a must for East Coast collectors.

Chicago Card Shows

Chicago hosts multiple regular card shows beyond The National, reflecting the city's deep sports culture. Shows at various suburban convention centers run monthly and draw strong Midwest attendance. Chicago's vintage baseball market is especially deep given the city's baseball history.

SoCal Card Shows

Southern California hosts several major recurring shows across the LA and Orange County area. The combination of a massive population, deep sports fandom (Lakers, Dodgers, Angels, Chargers), and a large collector base makes SoCal one of the most active show markets in the country. Shows range from small monthly gatherings to large quarterly events.

The Allen Show (Texas)

The Allen Card Show in Allen, Texas has built a national reputation as a destination show. It runs regularly and is known for a strong mix of sports, Pokemon, and TCG dealers. The show's growth reflects the broader Texas card scene explosion.

Regional Shows Worth Finding

Beyond the big names, every region has shows worth attending. The Midwest has strong shows in Detroit, Columbus, Indianapolis, and St. Louis. The Northeast has shows across New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New England. The Southeast has growing shows in Atlanta, Charlotte, and Tampa. The Pacific Northwest has shows in Seattle and Portland.

These regional shows are often friendlier, less overwhelming, and better for deals than the mega-shows. Check our events calendar to find shows in your area.

Pokemon and TCG-Specific Events

Beyond traditional sports card shows, the Pokemon and MTG communities have their own event circuits. Pokemon Regional Championships combine competitive play with a trading floor. MTG Grand Prix and MagicFest events (now under other names as the organized play structure evolves) combine tournament play with dealer halls. These events are covered in our MTG guide and Pokemon hub.

Planning Your Show Calendar

Serious collectors plan their year around shows. Pick 2–3 local monthly shows as your regular circuit, add one or two destination shows (The National plus maybe Dallas or Chantilly), and budget accordingly. The travel, hotel, and admission costs are an investment in your hobby — the cards you find and the relationships you build at shows are worth it.
