Play Booster Box

Thirty Play Boosters of 14 cards at $6.99 per pack MSRP. This is the draft box and the format most prerelease and launch events will run on. Preorder pricing at shops has generally sat at or slightly below MSRP, as it usually does before a set proves out.

Collector Booster Box

Twelve Collector Boosters at $37.99 per pack MSRP, roughly $456 of MSRP in a box. This is the only source of the signed headliner cards and the deeper borderless treatments. Preorders have been the fastest-moving product of the lineup, but a preorder price is a retailer's guess, not a market.

Commander Decks

Four 100-card decks at $74.99 MSRP each: Federation Fleet, Landing Party, Klingon Fury and We Are the Borg. Each carries a traditional foil borderless face commander and double-sided tokens. Collector's Edition versions of all four, with surge foil contents, are $159.99 MSRP.

Bundle and Beam Me Up Bundle

The Bundle is $69.99 MSRP with nine Play Boosters, lands, a promo and accessories. The Beam Me Up Bundle at $99.99 MSRP is the larger one and carries eight spacecraft-themed promo cards that are exclusive to it, which historically is the kind of detail that makes a bundle worth more than its boosters after the fact.

Draft Night, Scene Box and Beginner Box

Draft Night is $119.99 MSRP and built to run a pod. The Scene Box is $41.99 MSRP with foil borderless scene cards that assemble into one artwork. The Beginner Box is $34.99 MSRP and aimed at teaching new players.

Chase cards and Booster Fun treatments

The headline is a first for Magic: seven different signed headliner cards, each hand-signed by a Star Trek actor and printed in approximately 250 copies. They appear only in Collector Boosters. Signed cards at that quantity sit between Final Fantasy's 77-copy serialized Chocobo and The Hobbit's 500-copy gold Smaug in scarcity, and the signature adds an authentication question that numbered cards do not have.

The treatment pool is heavily themed. Twenty-nine LCARS frame cards use the Starfleet interface design, and all ten shock lands are getting LCARS framing, which is the detail Commander players are most interested in. There are 24 classic Enterprise retro-styled cards, 30 stardates reprints under the SDS code, 25 borderless scene cards, and the eight Beam Me Up Bundle promos.

Wizards has published Collector Booster slot contents but no per-card odds, and nothing beyond the approximate 250-copy figure for the signed cards.

Is Star Trek worth preordering sealed?

There is no secondary market, so there is no price to compare against and no honest expected-value calculation to run. What can be said is that the structural setup resembles The Hobbit and Marvel Super Heroes rather than Fallout: this is a Standard-legal premier set that Wizards will print to demand, so scarcity is unlikely to be the story.

Preordering makes sense for two reasons only. The first is if you want to play at launch and your shop's allocation is limited, in which case preorder at MSRP and no higher. The second is the Collector's Edition Commander decks and the Beam Me Up Bundle, which are the limited-feeling products in the lineup and the ones that have historically been under-ordered. Everything else, including the Collector Booster box, is likely to be available at or below MSRP within a month or two of release, as Marvel Super Heroes and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles both were. Paying above MSRP before a set has traded a single box is speculation, not investing.

How to spot fakes, resealed and mapped boxes

Nothing has been opened yet, so there is no resealed Star Trek product in circulation. What exists instead is preorder fraud: listings for a product that does not ship for two months, from sellers with no history, at prices below what shops are charging. Treat any Star Trek listing below MSRP before release as a red flag and pay through a channel with buyer protection.

Once the set lands, the risks will be the familiar ones. Collector Booster boxes with a 250-copy signed card in the pool will be reseal targets, so check shrink seams, glue residue and flap nicks. Loose Collector Boosters will get weighed and mapped. The signed cards add one more issue that Magic has not had to deal with at scale: signature authentication. Buy signed headliners graded and authenticated, or buy them from the pack opener with video, and treat a raw signed card from an unknown seller as unverifiable.

Where to buy Star Trek sealed

Preorders through local shops are the best route right now, because shops allocate to regular customers and you avoid paying a marketplace markup on an unreleased product. Find one through the card shop directory. Card shows will be a good post-release venue for Commander decks. Online, these searches will return the cleanest results:
