The 2019 edition is the more interesting scarcity story if you can find one, because it was the smallest print of the four and the market for it is thin enough that patient buyers occasionally get one well under the range. The line's closure in 2022, three years before the license lapsed, means there is no fresh catalyst here. Buy Encased because you want the format, not because you expect the boxes to run.

How to spot fakes and resealed boxes

A single-pack premium box invites tampering, and Encased has the added problem that the marquee card is visible as a holder rather than a raw card, which makes swapping tempting. Verify three things. First, the outer shrink should be tight to the corners with a clean bottom seam and no adhesive haze. Second, the tamper-evident seal beneath the wrap should be unbroken and unlifted, with no gloss patch where a replacement sticker has been applied. Third, on the 2022 edition, the encased card should carry an intact Panini security sticker on the holder itself; a holder with a peeled or reapplied sticker is a red flag regardless of how the box looks.

Because the boxes are light and the contents are few, weighing is useless. Prices are high enough that photographs of every side of the box, plus the seal, should be a condition of purchase. Buy from established shops or sellers with a documented history of moving sealed premium wax.
