About this show

The National Sports Collectors Convention returns to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont from Wednesday, July 28 through Sunday, August 1, 2027. The National is the largest sports collectibles show in the world, and Chicago is its most frequent host city — when the National comes to Rosemont, the entire hobby comes with it. If you attend one card event in a five-year span, this is the one.

Scale is the whole story. The National fills the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center with roughly a thousand dealer tables, plus corporate pavilions from every major manufacturer and grading company. Topps, Panini, Upper Deck, Leaf and others build full booths with exclusive wrapper-redemption programs — buy or trade in product on site and receive convention-only cards. PSA, SGC, BGS and CGC all operate on-site submission centers, so you can hand over cards for grading in person rather than shipping them, and show specials on turnaround are common.

The dealer floor covers everything the hobby touches: baseball, football, basketball, hockey, soccer, boxing, UFC and Olympic material; vintage tobacco and caramel-era cards from the early 1900s; T206s, 1952 Topps, postwar runs, junk-wax-era boxes and current-year product; graded slabs at every price point from twenty dollars to seven figures; game-used memorabilia, uniforms, bats, balls, pennants, ticket stubs and photography. Trading card game dealers work the floor as well, with Pokemon in particular now a permanent presence. Auction houses preview upcoming lots, and multiple major auctions time their catalogs to the show.

Autograph pavilions run all five days with dozens of athletes — Hall of Famers, current stars and Chicago legends among them. Ticket prices vary by signer and sell out in advance for the biggest names. There are also panels, hobby-industry announcements, a card-design and art component, and a youth zone at most recent Nationals.

VERIFY: 2027 daily hours, admission pricing and the full autograph lineup had not been published at the time this listing was compiled. Recent Nationals have run roughly 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM Wednesday through Friday with extended weekend hours, five-day passes and VIP packages that include early access, and general admission in the $20 range per day. Confirm on the official National site closer to the date.

The convention center is at 5555 N River Rd in Rosemont, next to O'Hare and directly served by the CTA Blue Line Rosemont station — genuinely the easiest way in, since driving means paid convention parking and July traffic. Hotels in the Rosemont cluster sell out months ahead; book early.

Who should go: everyone in the hobby, at least once. Serious buyers and sellers get the deepest market in the world for five days. Casual collectors get a spectacle. Families should plan a half day rather than a full one — the floor is genuinely exhausting.

Tips: buy tickets in advance, wear real shoes, bring cash and a payment app, carry a rigid case and a backpack, and set a budget before you walk in. Do one full lap before spending anything.
