Downtown Redding collectibles shop on California Street mixing sports cards and Pokemon with comics, retro video games and Hot Wheels, open seven days.
Something Old Something Nouveau occupies a storefront on California Street in downtown Redding, and the name tells you what to expect: a rotating mix of old and new collectibles rather than a single-game specialty shop. Sports cards and Pokemon cards make up a big share of the floor, alongside comics, retro video games, Hot Wheels and assorted pop-culture finds. It is the kind of shop where the inventory changes week to week as collections come in and go out.
For card collectors, the draw is the blend of sports and TCG under one roof. Baseball, football and basketball cards share space with Pokemon singles and sealed product, so a parent shopping for a kid's Pokemon binder and a collector hunting rookies can both leave with something. The shop buys collections as well as sells, which keeps the cases turning over, but sellers should know what their cards are worth before they walk in. Checking recent sold prices on graded or high-value cards ahead of time is always smart when you are negotiating an offer at any card shop, and this one is no exception.
Hours are among the most consistent downtown: 11AM to 7PM every day of the week, including Sunday. That makes it an easy add-on to a downtown Redding errand run or a stop after lunch nearby. Street parking is available along California Street and in the surrounding downtown blocks.
If you collect trading cards in Redding and like digging rather than browsing a tidy catalog, this is a shop to check periodically. Ask what has come in recently, flip through the boxes, and look past the card cases to the comics and retro games while you are there.
