Beverly's neighborhood Chicago card shop stocking over a million sports cards, vintage jerseys, and Topps and Panini singles.
Owner John Burke spent years dreaming about opening a shop like the one he grew up visiting in Evergreen Park, and in late 2025 he finally did it on 111th Street in Beverly. Bonerko's Sports Cards & More is a former firefighter's answer to a neighborhood that had gone without a dedicated card shop for too long.
The inventory reflects that hometown focus. Burke has built up more than a million cards spanning baseball, basketball, football, and hockey, with Topps, Panini, and Leaf product filling the cases alongside vintage jerseys, retro 1980s and 90s apparel, autographed memorabilia, and old photos. It's a mix that appeals equally to serious set-builders and kids just discovering the hobby.
That kid-friendly approach is intentional. First-time young visitors get handed a free pack from their sport of choice, and the shop has become a regular after-school stop for neighborhood kids who bike or scooter over, park their rides inside, and hang out looking through the bins. Burke has talked openly about wanting the shop to feel like a family business rather than a transaction-only stop, and Beverly locals have responded by making it exactly that kind of gathering spot.
Bonerko's keeps modest hours, open Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 5:30, closed Sunday and Monday, so plan a midweek or Saturday visit if you want time to dig through the bins. There's street parking along 111th and it's an easy stop if you're already out running errands on the Far South Side.
With trade nights and autograph signings on the horizon, this Chicago card shop is quickly turning into more than just a place to buy packs, it's becoming a community hub for Beverly collectors of every age.
