217 Comics Cards & Games

Sports wax, vintage singles, and comics under one roof until 10PM nightly — Springfield's late-night option for rip sessions and graded card hunting.

Open until 10PM nearly every night, 217 Comics Cards & Games keeps the longest hours of any card shop in Springfield — and that alone has made the Adlai Stevenson Drive store the default evening stop for central Illinois rippers. The name covers the range: comics and toys share the floor with a sports card operation that leans into modern wax, hobby boxes, and a vintage-and-graded case for collectors chasing older cardboard.

Sports cards are the core of the card business here. Modern baseball and football boxes stock the wax wall, singles run from current rookies back through vintage decades, and the display cases hold graded inventory for slab hunters. The shop buys collections, so the back stock shifts constantly — reviewers mention finding cards here that never surface at weekend shows.

The comics-and-games half of the store broadens the appeal. Puzzles, minis, paint supplies, and trading card games round out the shelves, and in-store events and tournaments keep a community rhythm going. With 241 Google reviews averaging 4.6 stars, the recurring praise centers on selection depth and a staff that treats a $5 pack buyer and a $500 box breaker with the same energy.

Practical notes: hours are 11AM to 10PM Monday through Saturday and noon to 8PM Sunday, making this the rare Springfield sports card destination you can hit after dinner any day of the week. If your collecting spans Marvel books and mojo breaks, no other stop in town covers both this thoroughly.
