The Comic Dimension

Spring Garden St comic and card shop in Greensboro with an MTG singles kiosk, multiple weekly Magic events, Pokemon, HeroClix and monthly fighting-game nights.

The Comic Dimension has been a fixture on Spring Garden Street for well over a decade, close to the UNCG campus and the neighborhoods west of downtown Greensboro. The shop recently changed hands, but the new ownership has kept the same welcoming, well-kept space that longtime customers know, with comics and manga on one side and a busy card and gaming area on the other.

Magic: The Gathering is the store's trading card core. A self-serve kiosk lets you search the MTG singles inventory card by card, which takes the guesswork out of building a deck, and singles are priced fairly. The shop runs several Magic events every week, with a relaxed, casual crowd that is easy for new players to join, and it stocks new Commander precons and sealed product on release. Pokemon has recently been added to the shelves as well.

The Comic Dimension also carries a solid lineup of comics, graphic novels and manga, plus HeroClix and Dungeons & Dragons product. Its event calendar extends past cards: the store hosts a monthly fighting-game meetup for the Triad's competitive gaming community on the second Sunday of each month, and Friday nights are typically the liveliest of the week for Magic.

Hours vary by day: noon to 8PM on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday; noon to 10PM on Tuesday; noon to 11PM on Friday; and noon to 6PM on Sunday. Those late Tuesday and Friday closes line up with the store's main play nights. For anyone looking for trading cards in Greensboro near UNCG, this is a convenient stop between classes or after work. Visitors from out of town often make it a regular stop whenever they are back in Greensboro, and the mix of comics, cards and community events means there is usually something happening on the calendar. Bring a deck on Friday, and you will rarely have trouble finding a game.
