Topps Heritage reprints a classic Topps design every year with today's players, and 2026 is the turn of 1977. The hanger box is the cheapest sealed way into it: 35 cards in a retail hanger, with two parallels you won't find in other boxes. It came out in March 2026. This page covers what the hanger holds, what is exclusive to it and how it compares with the other 2026 Heritage formats on our site. The line as a whole is in our Topps Heritage guide.

A 2026 Heritage hanger box holds 35 cards. Its two hanger-exclusive parallels are the reason a set collector buys this format rather than another:
Hangers have no guaranteed autograph or relic. They are for base cards, short prints and those parallels.
Each year Heritage moves one year further through the classic Topps catalogue, and 2026 recreates the 1977 Topps set: its design and its subsets, applied to the 2026 roster. Heritage collectors tend to be set builders who like the old look and the slow, completist pace of a 400-card checklist.
The 2026 checklist includes the subsets the original set had:
Turn Back the Clock is a new subset this year. New Deckle Edge and Color of the Year parallels, plus base variations, autographs and relics, sit above the base set in the hobby boxes.

Seven months after release, 2026 hangers sell at roughly retail. The 2025 hanger at $10 suggests where a hanger can go a year after its set: last year's retail Heritage got cheaper once the new design arrived. If you are building the 2026 set and not in a hurry, that is a reason to consider waiting before buying hangers in bulk.
Heritage short prints are the set builder's main obstacle, as they have been throughout the line, and retail formats are a slow way to find them. Many collectors build the base from hangers and buy the short prints as singles.
The 1977 Topps baseball set had 660 cards, and it is remembered for multi-player rookie cards: Andre Dawson and Dale Murphy both made their Topps debut on cards shared with three other rookies. The Quad Rookies subset in 2026 Heritage copies that format with today's first-year players. Collectors who own the originals tend to like seeing the same layout come back, and new collectors get to know an old design through current players.
With 35 cards per hanger and a 400-card set, even a perfect run of no duplicates would take at least 12 hangers. Realistically it takes far more. Heritage is built around short prints that retail rarely produces, and duplicates pile up. Hangers are the right format to start a set and pick up the two hanger exclusives, not the right format to finish one. Value packs ($22.97 when we checked) and blasters ($35.06) are close alternatives with their own retail parallels.
At $20.33 for 35 cards, a hanger costs about 58 cents a card, among the cheapest ways into a current Topps set.
Heritage advances one design year per release: 2025 Heritage used the 1976 design and 2026 uses 1977. If the pattern holds, 2027 will reach 1978. For collectors that rhythm sets the life of each year's retail. Hangers are easy to find while their year is current, then turn up mainly as leftover stock and in lots once the next design arrives.
Buying in the gap after a new design lands, when shops clear old stock, is usually the cheapest moment of all.Hangers sit on peg hooks at big-box stores and in card shops. Check that the hanger's seams are flat and even, with no glue or slit along the back, the usual signs of a resealed retail pack. Card shops (find one here) often sell retail Heritage near the original price. Online:
