Magic: The Gathering Double Masters 2022: Booster Box Prices & Sealed

Jul 20222X2from $80.004 sealed products

Double Masters 2022 kept the two-rares-two-foils pack of the original but changed almost everything around it. There are no box toppers, there is no VIP Edition, and the Collector Booster box holds four packs instead of twelve. That four-pack box is the single most misunderstood thing about this product, and it is why 2X2 Collector box prices look strange next to every other set. Here is the full configuration, the chase cards and September 2026 pricing.

Sealed products for Double Masters 2022

Draft Booster Box

Twenty-four Draft Boosters. Each pack holds eight commons, three uncommons, two rares or mythic rares, two traditional foils of any rarity, one Cryptic Spires and a token or ad card. Cryptic Spires is a Draft Booster exclusive mana-fixing land that exists to make the limited format work; it is not a chase card. Boxes launched at roughly $280 to $320 and sell for $410 to $500 in September 2026, with a market price near $460 and recent sales clustering in the $420 to $495 band.

Collector Booster Box

Four Collector Boosters, not twelve. Each pack carries five foil commons, two foil uncommons, two non-foil and two foil borderless commons or uncommons, a traditional foil rare or mythic, a non-foil borderless rare or mythic, a foil-etched rare or mythic, and one slot that is either a foil borderless rare or mythic or a textured foil mythic. Individual packs launched around $55, which caused an audible reaction at the time, and the four-pack box launched near $220. It now trades at $340 to $440 with a market price near $420. Always check the pack count before comparing a 2X2 Collector box to any other set's; four packs against twelve makes a straight price comparison meaningless.

Booster Pack

Single Draft Boosters run $20 to $26 and single Collector Boosters $100 to $140. At those levels both are entertainment purchases rather than value plays, and loose Collector packs carry the tampering risk described below.

Booster Case

A 2X2 Draft case is four boxes. Collector cases exist in a smaller configuration because of the four-pack boxes. Case-fresh product carries a premium and is the only way to buy 2X2 Collector product without a reseal question attached.

Chase cards and Booster Fun treatments

Imperial Seal is the headline. Its first-ever paper reprint outside the Portal Three Kingdoms original was the reason a large share of the set's preorders happened, and it remains the most valuable card in 2X2. Dockside Extortionist, Mana Crypt, Wrenn and Six, Force of Negation, Bitterblossom and Sword of Feast and Famine sit behind it, and the set carries an unusually deep run of Commander staples in the $10 to $40 range.

Treatments are where 2X2 differs from its predecessor. There are 80 borderless cards with alternate art, every rare and mythic has a foil-etched version, and five mythic rares received textured foil treatments available only in Collector Boosters. There are no box toppers, no VIP Edition and no serialized cards. The textured foils are the top of the treatment ladder and the reason a Collector pack has any lottery appeal at all.

Is Double Masters 2022 worth buying sealed?

2X2 is a middling sealed hold dressed in Masters clothing. The Draft box has gone from roughly $300 to roughly $460 in four years, which is a real gain but a much softer one than the 2020 set managed, and the Collector box has roughly doubled off a base that was widely considered overpriced at the time. The set is out of print and Wizards has not reprinted it as a unit, so the supply story is genuine.

Two things argue against loading up. The first is that 2X2 was printed far more heavily than Ultimate Masters or the original Double Masters; it was widely available at discount for months after release, which is the opposite of a capped run. The second is reprint pressure: Imperial Seal, Dockside Extortionist and Mana Crypt have all been touched by later products or bans, and the Commander banning of Mana Crypt and Dockside in 2024 took real money out of the middle of the set. Expected value on a Draft box sits under box price. Buy this one to draft, or as a modest, slow position, and understand that the original Double Masters is the better sealed product in almost every respect.

How to spot fakes, resealed and mapped boxes

The four-pack Collector box is the risk here. A box that contains only four packs is trivially easy to open, sort and rewrap compared with a twelve-pack display, and the value gap makes it worth someone's time. Look for tight factory shrink with a single clean seam, no adhesive residue at the flaps, and no give when you press the box - four packs in a small box should feel solid, not loose. Any box with an odd rattle has been interfered with.

Loose 2X2 Collector Boosters are the worst thing on this page to buy from an unfamiliar seller. They are expensive enough to justify weighing, the textured foil slot gives a clear weight signature, and a weighed pack that has been passed over is worth far less than its price. Draft boxes are much lower risk. For any purchase over a couple of hundred dollars, buy from a sealed case or from a shop whose sealed-product history you can check.

Where to buy Double Masters 2022 sealed

Local stores frequently still hold 2X2 Draft boxes bought at discount, and they will let you inspect the shrink before paying, so start with the card shop directory. Card shows are a reasonable venue for loose Draft packs. Online, these searches give the cleanest results:

Frequently asked questions

How many packs are in a Double Masters 2022 booster box?

A Draft Booster box holds 24 packs of 15 cards. A Collector Booster box holds only four packs, which is unusual and often misread.

Does Double Masters 2022 have box toppers?

No. The 2020 Double Masters included two borderless box toppers per box, but 2X2 dropped them entirely and replaced the premium tier with Collector Boosters.

Is Double Masters 2022 Standard legal?

No. It is a reprint set, so its cards remain legal in the formats they already occupied, mainly Modern, Legacy, Vintage and Commander.

How much is a Double Masters 2022 booster box worth?

In September 2026 Draft boxes sell for $410 to $500 and the four-pack Collector boxes for $340 to $440. They launched near $300 and $220 respectively.

What is the most valuable card in Double Masters 2022?

Imperial Seal, whose first widely available paper reprint arrived in this set. Dockside Extortionist, Mana Crypt and Wrenn and Six follow it.

Is Double Masters 2022 still in print?

No. It is out of print, but it was printed deeply and was widely discounted after release, so its scarcity story is weaker than the 2020 set's.
