MTG Draft Night Kits: What Is Inside and What They Cost

Jan 2026N/A

Draft Night is real, and it is a full retail product rather than a store-level exclusive. Wizards launched it with Lorwyn Eclipsed in January 2026 as a self-contained four-player draft in a box, and it has shipped with every major set since. Its official name is Draft Night, not Draft Night Kit, which is worth knowing when you search for it. This page covers exactly what is inside, which sets have one, what they cost and whether it beats a booster box.

What is in an MTG Draft Night

Twelve Play Boosters, one Collector Booster, ninety basic lands split evenly at eighteen per type, ten non-foil double-sided tokens and a printed draft insert explaining the format. That is everything four people need to draft and play without anyone bringing lands, and the Collector Booster is meant to be handed to whoever wins.

Twelve Play Boosters is three packs each for a four-player pod, matching the standard draft structure. The ninety lands are the part that actually makes the product work: pulling a land station together is the most annoying part of hosting a draft at home, and Draft Night removes it.

Contents have been stable across sets so far. Marvel Super Heroes Draft Night is the same twelve Play Boosters, one Collector Booster, ninety lands and ten tokens at $119.99, the higher price reflecting the Universes Beyond premium on both pack types rather than any change in configuration.

Pick-Two Draft

The draft insert teaches Pick-Two Draft, a faster variant where each player takes two cards from a pack before passing instead of one. Wizards designed it for small groups and kitchen tables, and Magic executive producer Mike Turian has described it as a quicker draft that works better with four players than the standard format does. You are not obliged to use it; twelve packs drafts perfectly well as a normal four-person pod.

Which sets have Draft Night

Wizards has said every major Magic release for the foreseeable future will include a Draft Night, and the 2026 schedule has borne that out.

What you can pull from a Draft Night

Twelve Play Boosters give twelve guaranteed rares or mythics plus whatever the wildcard slots add, and the Collector Booster gives roughly five more rares or mythics with premium treatments. That Collector Booster is the only slot in the box that can contain a serialized card, at the same low odds as any other Collector Booster.

There is nothing exclusive to Draft Night. The tokens, lands and packs are all standard, the insert is not a card, and there is no Draft Night promo. Everything in the box is available elsewhere, which is exactly why the value question below is straightforward to answer.

Is an MTG Draft Night worth buying?

Price it against its parts. At $89.99 for an in-universe set, twelve Play Boosters at roughly $5.49 each is about $66, and a Collector Booster at $26.99 brings the total to around $93 before you value the lands and tokens. So you are paying roughly what the contents retail for, and the lands, tokens and convenience come in free. That is fair, not a bargain.

Against a booster box it is a different comparison. A thirty-pack Play Booster box at $140 is about $4.67 a pack, while Draft Night works out to roughly $7.50 a pack once you strip out the Collector Booster's value. If you want the most cards per dollar, buy the box. If you want to host a four-person draft on a Friday with nothing else to prepare, Draft Night is the better purchase and the box is the wrong shape for the job.

It is a poor sealed hold, for the usual reason: it is printed to demand alongside the set and there is nothing exclusive inside. The TMNT Draft Night traded up to roughly $180 in a thin early market and has been drifting down since, which is the pattern to expect. Buy it to draft with.

How to spot fakes, resealed and tampered boxes

The Collector Booster is the obvious target. The commonest problem with any product that bundles one is the Collector Booster being removed and replaced with a Play Booster before the box is re-wrapped, and Draft Night's flat carton makes that easy. Check that the outer shrink is tight with a single clean seam, no adhesive residue and no re-folded flaps, and that the box has no crease from being opened.

Count the components if you buy one already opened: twelve Play Boosters, one Collector Booster, ninety lands, ten tokens. A seller offering a Draft Night "complete but opened" at a discount is usually selling one that is missing exactly one pack. Because the product is new and widely available at retail, there is little reason to buy a questionable one; a sealed copy at MSRP from a shop is easy to find for the in-universe sets. Counterfeiting is not yet a meaningful problem here, but the licensed versions at $119.99 are the ones to inspect most closely.

Where to buy MTG Draft Night

Local game stores are the natural home for this product and are the best place to buy it, since it is designed for exactly the kind of pod a shop can help you fill. Use the card shop directory to find one, and check card shows for sets that have sold through. It is also stocked at general retail. Online:

Thirteen: twelve Play Boosters for the draft and one Collector Booster intended as the winner's prize.

Draft Night vs booster box: which should I buy?

A booster box gives thirty packs at roughly $4.67 each and is the better card-per-dollar buy. Draft Night gives a ready-to-run four-player pod with lands and tokens included at roughly $7.50 a pack. Buy the box for cards, Draft Night for hosting.

MSRP is $89.99 for in-universe sets and $119.99 for Universes Beyond. Secondary prices run $85 to $180 depending on the set.

What is Pick-Two Draft?
