Play Booster Box

Thirty-six Play Boosters of 14 cards. That was the normal Play Booster display size in mid-2024 - Murders at Karlov Manor through Foundations all shipped 36-pack boxes - and it only looks unusual now because Wizards reduced Play Booster boxes to 30 packs from Aetherdrift onward. The pack runs six or seven commons, three uncommons, a wildcard slot, a rare or mythic, a foil, a land slot and a token or art card, with Special Guest cards appearing in the wildcard slot at a low rate. Boxes opened around $250 at release, dipped through 2025 as supply cleared, and have recovered to $250 to $340 in September 2026 with recent sales clustering near $280.

Collector Booster Box

Twelve Collector Boosters of roughly 15 cards, each holding multiple rares and mythics in borderless, extended-art and premium foil treatments plus a foil token. This is the only source of the serialized Eldrazi, the ripple foil treatment and the textured foil Elementals. Collector boxes launched near $390 and are the standout performer of the set, trading at $650 to $1,000 in September 2026 with a market price near $790.

Commander Decks

Four 100-card preconstructed decks: Graveyard Overdrive, Tricky Terrain, Creative Energy and Eldrazi Incursion. Each comes with a foil face commander, a second foil commander, tokens, a Collector Booster Sample Pack and a deck box. Eldrazi Incursion commands a premium over the other three for its card pool. Standard versions run $65 to $120 each.

Collector's Edition Commander Decks

The same four decks with every card in foil plus foil tokens, sold in much smaller quantities. They launched between $175 and $360 and have held those levels or better.

Bundle and Gift Bundle

The Bundle is nine Play Boosters, a foil alternate-art promo, basic lands, a spindown and a storage box, launched around $70. The Gift Bundle adds a Collector Booster and launched near $116, and given what MH3 Collector Boosters trade for individually it has aged the better of the two.

Prerelease Pack and Booster Case

Prerelease packs held six Play Boosters, a foil date-stamped rare or mythic and a spindown, and run $60 to $100. Cases are six boxes, and a Collector case removes the reseal question entirely.

Chase cards and Booster Fun treatments

The serialized chase is three borderless concept Eldrazi - Ulamog, Kozilek and Emrakul - printed in double-rainbow foil and numbered to 250 copies each, found only in Collector Boosters. Those are the cards driving Collector box prices.

Below them, MH3 has an unusually deep top end. The three Eldrazi titans in their normal printings, Ugin's Labyrinth, Necrodominance, Phlage Titan of Fire's Fury, Psychic Frog and Flare of Denial all carry real money, and the set reprinted the full fetch land cycle, which gives even ordinary boxes a floor. Nadu, Winged Wisdom was banned in Modern within weeks of release.

Treatments include ten borderless Special Guest cards numbered SPG 39 to 48 appearing in both booster types, ripple foil as a new premium finish, and textured foil versions of five Elementals. Wizards publishes Collector Booster slot contents rather than per-card odds, so treat any specific serialized pull rate in a listing as marketing.

Is Modern Horizons 3 worth buying sealed?

MH3 is the newest set on this list where the sealed case holds up, and the Collector box is the reason. It is out of print, it was allocated at release, the serialized Eldrazi cap the top end, and the box has gone from roughly $390 to roughly $790 in two years. That is a real move and it is not built on hype alone; the set's singles carry two eternal formats.

The Play Booster box is a different story. It has barely beaten its launch price and spent most of 2025 below it, which is what happens when Wizards prints a supplemental set deep. Expected value on a Play box sits below box price, so opening one to profit is a bad plan; opening one to draft MH3 is a good one, because it is an excellent limited format. Treat the Collector box as the collectible position and accept that most of its move has already happened, and treat the Play box as a play purchase rather than a hold.

How to spot fakes, resealed and mapped boxes

A Collector box that has roughly doubled is a resealing target, and MH3 is recent enough that counterfeit outer wrap is convincing. Check that shrink is tight and evenly tensioned with one clean seam, that there is no adhesive haze or tackiness near the flaps, and that the box does not shift or rattle. Look at the tear strip and the printed seams on the box itself; a rebuilt box often shows slightly crushed edges where it was pried.

Individual MH3 Collector Boosters should not be bought loose from sellers you cannot verify. A pack that has been weighed for the serialized slot is worth much less than the asking price suggests. For Play Boosters the risk is lower; the main thing to check is that a box has not been refilled with a different set's packs, which happens more often than people expect. Buying from a sealed case, or from a shop you can name, removes almost all of this.

Where to buy Modern Horizons 3 sealed

Local stores often have MH3 Play boxes at or near release pricing because they over-ordered, and they will let you look at the shrink first, so start with the card shop directory. Card shows are a good venue for Commander decks and bundles. Online, these searches work best:
