Draft Booster Box

Thirty-six Draft Boosters of 15 cards. The pack is built for limited: one rare or mythic, three uncommons, ten commons, a token or ad card, with a traditional foil replacing a common in roughly a third of packs and a retro frame card appearing at its own rate. This is still the box most people mean when they search for an MH2 booster box, and it is the one to buy if you intend to draft the set, which remains one of the best limited environments Wizards has produced. Boxes launched around $230 to $260 and sell for $280 to $330 in September 2026, with recent completed sales clustering near $300.

Set Booster Box

Thirty Set Boosters of 12 cards, built for opening rather than drafting: an art card, a themed run of commons and uncommons, a guaranteed rare or mythic, a foil and a chance at a card from the retro frame or sketch treatments in the wildcard slot. MH2 was the first supplemental set to get Set Boosters at all. Because Set Boosters were discontinued across the board after 2023, MH2 Set Booster boxes now have a mild scarcity story of their own. Expect $400 to $500, with Card Kingdom and TCGplayer mid both sitting near $499.

Collector Booster Box

Twelve Collector Boosters of 15 cards. This is the only place foil-etched cards appear, and it is where the retro frame and sketch treatments show up in foil at meaningful rates. Each pack carries multiple rares and mythics in premium treatments plus a foil retro frame card and a foil token. Collector boxes launched near $250 to $280 and trade at $480 to $600 in September 2026, clustering near $550. This is the MH2 box that has appreciated most and the one resealers target.

Bundle

MH2 was also the first supplemental set to get a Bundle: ten Draft Boosters, a foil alternate-art promo, 40 basic lands, a spindown and a storage box. Bundles run $130 to $190, though the per-pack cost is no better than a box.

Prerelease Pack and Booster Case

Prerelease kits held six Draft Boosters, a foil date-stamped rare or mythic and a spindown, and trade at $80 to $130. Cases are six boxes; case-fresh product carries a premium over six times box price and is the safest way to buy MH2 in quantity.

Chase cards and Booster Fun treatments

Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer is the set's defining card and its most valuable, with the borderless and retro frame foil versions well clear of the regular printing. Urza's Saga sits just behind it. The five Elemental Incarnations - Grief, Solitude, Fury, Endurance and Subtlety - form the set's mythic backbone, and Solitude and Grief remain strong in Modern and Legacy. Dauthi Voidwalker and the five enemy-colored fetch lands fill out the middle.

Treatment-wise, MH2 introduced two things collectors still chase. The retro pre-Modern frame appeared on a large slice of the set and on 40 Modern Horizons cards printed in the old frame for the first time. Sketch cards show the artist's pencil work alongside a fragment of the art description, and they were printed in small enough numbers that sketch versions of the Incarnations and Ragavan carry heavy premiums. Foil-etched versions are Collector Booster exclusives. There are no serialized cards in MH2; any listing claiming one is describing something else.

Is Modern Horizons 2 worth buying sealed?

MH2 is a legitimate sealed hold by Magic standards, which is a lower bar than it sounds. The set is out of print, it has never been reprinted in its original form, and the cards it introduced anchor two eternal formats. All three boxes sit above their launch price five years on, and the Collector box has roughly doubled.

The honest counterweight is reprint pressure. Ragavan, Urza's Saga and the Incarnations have all appeared in later products, and every new Modern Horizons release pulls attention and dollars toward the newer set. Box expected value on singles is below box price for all three configurations, so opening is a losing proposition against buying singles; that is normal and it is worth saying plainly. If you want to play with these cards, buy the cards. If you want sealed exposure, the Collector box has the best track record and the worst downside if Wizards ever does a heavy reprint wave, and the Draft box is the cheapest way to hold a genuinely great limited format you can crack with friends later.

How to spot fakes, resealed and mapped boxes

The MH2 Collector box is the one to scrutinize. A twelve-pack box with a large gap between sealed and opened value is exactly the profile resealers work on. Factory shrink should be tight with a single clean seam and no wrinkling at the corners, the flaps should show no adhesive residue or lifted cardboard, and the box should not rattle when tilted. Collector boxes also have an inner tray arrangement that is hard to restore perfectly; a box whose packs sit unevenly has likely been opened.

Loose Collector Boosters should be treated as untrustworthy unless they come from a box you watched open. Mapping and weighing are real problems for 2021-era Collector packs, and a pack checked for a foil-etched mythic is worth much less than its listing implies. When in doubt, buy from a sealed case or a shop with a sealed-product history you can check.

Where to buy Modern Horizons 2 sealed

Shops that bought deep in 2021 sometimes still hold MH2 at old pricing, and a local store is the only place you can inspect shrink before paying, so check the card shop directory first. Card shows are good hunting for bundles and prerelease kits. Online, these searches surface the right listings:
