Draft Booster Box

Thirty-six packs of fifteen cards with the standard 2022 breakdown of one rare or mythic, three uncommons, ten commons and a land, with a roughly one-in-three foil. New Capenna limited was a well-liked three-color format and this remains an inexpensive way to run a draft night. Boxes sit at $115-$180, which is close to what they cost at release and by some margin the lowest of any set in this era.

Set Booster Box

Thirty packs of twelve cards, with an art card, a guaranteed foil, a shot at The List and the skyscraper-treatment lands that were this set's equivalent of a showcase basic. Boxes run $145-$200. The gap between Draft and Set box pricing is narrow here, which is unusual and a symptom of how much SNC was printed.

Collector Booster Box

Twelve Collector Boosters holding the extended-art, foil-etched art deco, gilded foil and borderless cards. Gilded foil is the distinctive one: a raised, embossed frame applied to the Golden Age showcase legends, and it only appears in Collector Boosters. Boxes trade between roughly $245 and $400 depending on venue, with retail near the top and completed eBay sales near the bottom.

Bundle

Eight Set Boosters, a foil alternate-art promo, forty basic lands with twenty foil, a spindown die and a storage box. Bundles run about $100-$120 and are the most forgiving purchase in the set because the downside is small.

Commander Decks

Five decks, one per family: Obscura Operation, Maestros Massacre, Riveteers Rampage, Cabaretti Cacophony and Bedecked Brokers. Each is a hundred-card deck with new cards, a foil-etched display commander and a Collector Booster Sample Pack. They generally sell for $35-$70, and the Sample Pack alone accounts for a meaningful slice of that on a couple of them.

Prerelease Kits and Theme Boosters

Five family-specific Prerelease Kits shipped, each with six Draft Boosters, a foil year-stamped rare or mythic, a spindown and a deck box. They run $30-$45, which makes them one of the cheapest sealed-play options in Magic. Theme Boosters, since discontinued, held thirty-five cards from a single family.

Chase cards and Booster Fun treatments

The triome cycle carries the set. Jetmir's Garden, Spara's Headquarters, Raffine's Tower, Ziatora's Proving Ground and Xander's Lounge all see constructed and Commander play, and the borderless foil versions are the top singles: Jetmir's Garden around $50, Spara's near $44, Raffine's Tower near $42 and the other two in the $33-$35 range. The non-foil borderless versions sit closer to $28.

Gilded foil is the set's signature Collector Booster treatment. Gilded Raffine, Scheming Seer and gilded Ziatora, the Incinerator are the strongest at roughly $32-$34, with the rest of the cycle lower. Ob Nixilis, the Adversary is the set's marquee planeswalker and its foil-etched and showcase versions hold value, though not at triome levels. There are no serialized cards in Streets of New Capenna.

The other treatments are art deco foil-etched frames, the Golden Age showcase style, borderless planeswalkers, extended art and the skyscraper lands. Wizards published slot contents for Collector Boosters rather than individual odds, so nobody can honestly quote you a gilded foil pull rate.

Is Streets of New Capenna worth buying sealed?

Sealed New Capenna is a poor hold and a good time. The set was printed heavily, it sold slowly, and four years later the Draft box has barely moved off its release price while every other set from 2022 has re-rated upward. That tells you what the market thinks of the contents.

Box expected value is below box price on all three configurations. A Collector box at $350 is not returning $350 in singles on an average open, because the ceiling is a $50 triome. If you want the triomes, buy them; they are cheap. If you want to draft a genuinely enjoyable three-color limited format at the lowest cost per pack of any modern set, a Draft box is a legitimately good purchase. Treat it as entertainment spending. Reprint risk on the triomes is also real, since Wizards has reprinted every other triome cycle, which is one more reason not to sit on boxes waiting.

How to spot fakes, resealed and mapped boxes

New Capenna's low prices actually reduce the counterfeiting incentive, but resealed Collector Booster boxes still show up. Look for tight, glossy, unbroken shrink with clean seams, no adhesive residue at the flaps, and no loose rattle inside. A box that was opened and rewrapped usually has a slightly hazy film and soft corners.

The bigger risk with a cheap set is bulk substitution: a seller who replaced Collector Boosters inside a box with Draft Boosters, or shipped a box with packs missing. Weigh the assumption that low value means low risk with care, and buy from sellers who will show the case the box came from. Commander decks are also a mapping target because of the Sample Pack, so buy those in factory shrink.
