Draft Booster Box

Thirty-six packs, each with a rare or mythic, a Mystical Archive card, a Lesson card, three uncommons, nine commons and a foil replacing a common in roughly one pack in three. The Lesson slot is unusual - Lessons are sideboard cards you fetch during a game, and they made Strixhaven limited one of the more distinctive formats of the era. Boxes trade at $150-$230, most often near $175-$200.

Set Booster Box

Thirty packs of 12 cards, each containing a Mystical Archive card, a Lesson card of any rarity, a guaranteed traditional foil, an art card and a card from The List in about one pack in four. For most buyers this is the best value box in the set: you get the same Archive card per pack as a Draft Booster at a lower pack count but a much better hit rate on everything else. Boxes sit at $215-$280.

Collector Booster Box

Twelve packs of roughly 15 cards. The defining feature is two foil-etched Mystical Archive cards per pack - one with the global artwork, one with the Japanese alternate artwork - alongside foil rares, borderless and extended-art cards and a foil token. Those Japanese foil-etched Archive cards are the most valuable thing in Strixhaven and the sole reason this box costs what it does. Expect $550-$700, with sales clustering near $580-$650.

Bundle

Ten Draft Boosters, twenty foil basics, twenty regular basics, an alternate-art promo card, an oversized spindown and a card storage box. Roughly $65-$110.

Commander Decks

Five 100-card decks, one per college: Silverquill Statement, Prismari Performance, Witherbloom Witchcraft, Lorehold Legacies and Quantum Quandrix. Each has a foil-etched display commander and sixteen new-to-Magic cards. Sealed decks generally run $35-$80 depending on the deck.

Theme Boosters

Five college-themed 35-card packs with one or two rares. They contain no Mystical Archive cards, which is the main thing to know about them, and they hold little sealed value at $12-$25.

Prerelease Kit

College-aligned kits containing a college booster, five Draft Boosters, a foil year-stamped rare or mythic, a college spindown and a campus map insert. Around $35-$60.

Booster Case

Six boxes per case for each booster type. With Collector Boosters carrying the set's real money, case-fresh purchasing matters here more than on most 2021 sets.

Chase cards and Booster Fun treatments

The Mystical Archive is the set. Demonic Tutor in its standard Archive printing trades roughly $70-$130 depending on venue, and the Japanese alternate-art foil-etched version has been in the $300 range. Teferi's Protection, Tainted Pact and Dark Ritual follow, each meaningfully more expensive in Japanese foil-etched form. Every one of the 63 Archive cards has a Japanese alternate-art version, and the gap between the two printings is wide enough that you should always check which one a listing shows.

The main set is thin by comparison. Crackle with Power is its most expensive card at roughly $21, and the five founder dragons, Body of Research and the double-faced mythic legends sit below that. Treatments beyond the Archive include borderless planeswalkers, borderless elder dragons, extended-art rares and mythics, and the Dragonsguard Elite buy-a-box promo.

Wizards published the Collector Booster slot list, including the two guaranteed foil-etched Archive cards, but never per-card odds. Any listing quoting a specific chance at a particular Archive card is guessing.

Is Strixhaven worth buying sealed?

The Collector Booster box is the only one with a real argument, and it is narrow. The Japanese foil-etched Archive cards cannot be obtained any other way in sealed form, the set is out of print, and the box has roughly doubled from its release price. It is also priced for that: a $620 box needs a high-end Japanese Archive card to break even, and the average box does not produce one. Buy it if you want the object, not because you expect it to pay.

Draft and Set boxes are play purchases. The Set box is a good time - thirty Archive cards, thirty foils, thirty art cards - but its expected value in singles is well under its price and always has been. If you want specific Archive cards, buy them as singles. Strixhaven will not be reprinted as a set, but the Archive cards themselves keep getting reprinted elsewhere, which caps how far the sealed can run.

How to spot fakes, resealed and mapped boxes

Strixhaven Collector Boosters are among the most mapped packs in modern Magic, because the two Archive slots make pack weight meaningful. Loose Collector Boosters from an unfamiliar seller are not worth buying at any price you will be quoted. If a seller has boxes and packs listed simultaneously, assume the packs are the leftovers.

On boxes, check the shrink: tight, even, one clean seam, no adhesive residue, no heat wrinkles at the corners, no tool scoring near the flaps. Resealed Collector boxes usually sit slightly loose and the packs shift audibly. Buy from a sealed case where you can, and from an identifiable shop rather than a new account. Counterfeit sealed Magic boxes exist for higher-value sets; compare box art print sharpness against a verified photo.

Where to buy Strixhaven sealed

Local shops are the best place to find Set Booster boxes at pre-run prices, and they are the only place you can inspect a Collector box before paying.
