Play Booster Box

Thirty Play Boosters of 14 cards at a $5.49 MSRP per pack, $164.70 at list. Boxes are selling at or slightly above list, $160-$205 with retail listings around $180-$200, which is unusual for an in-print premier set and reflects how much people want to open Mystical Archive cards. Every Play Booster contains one, and the sheet skews heavily uncommon, so most packs give you a playable rather than a payday.

Collector Booster Box

Twelve Collector Boosters of 15 cards at a $26.99 MSRP per pack, $323.88 at list. These sell far above that, in a $500-$620 range with retail listings clustering near $575-$600. Collector Boosters carry two uncommon Mystical Archive slots, a rare or mythic slot, a chance at a Mystical Archive card in the Booster Fun foil slot, and they are the only source of the Japanese silver scroll foil printings, which is what the price is buying.

Bundle

Nine Play Boosters, a foil promo, full-art Spellcraft lands, a spindown and a storage box at a $57.99 MSRP. It has discounted to $40-$60.

Codex Bundle

The premium bundle, at an $89.99 MSRP, combining Play Boosters with Collector Boosters and premium accessories. It released a few weeks after the main set and sells for $95-$145, above list, because the Collector Boosters inside carry real value on their own.

Commander Decks

Five decks at a $49.99 MSRP each, one per college: Silverquill Influence, Prismari Artistry, Witherbloom Pestilence, Lorehold Spirit and Quandrix Unlimited. Each is a 100-card deck with a foil face commander, a Collector Booster Sample Pack, tokens and a deck box. Sealed they run $45-$80.

Draft Night

Twelve Play Boosters, one Collector Booster, lands and tokens in one box at an $89.99 MSRP, sold for $100-$115. It is the cheapest way to get a single Collector Booster alongside enough Play Boosters for a small pod.

60-Card Theme Decks

Standard-legal preconstructed decks at a $23.99 MSRP, aimed at newer players and discounted heavily on shelves, often $13-$25.

Prerelease Pack

Six Play Boosters, a year-stamped foil rare or mythic, spindown and deck box, generally $35-$50.

Chase cards and Booster Fun treatments

The Mystical Archive is 65 instants and sorceries, 25 uncommons, 25 rares and 15 mythics, set code SOA. Every Play Booster contains one, weighted heavily toward uncommons, and roughly a third of regular packs deliver the Japanese alternate artwork version. Collector Boosters add the silver scroll foil treatment on Japanese Mystical Archive cards, found in fewer than a fifth of packs, and those are the sheet's genuine chase: a silver scroll foil Japanese Force of Will has traded near four figures, with Brain Freeze and Armageddon in the $60-$75 range. Standard Mystical Archive printings of Force of Will, Vampiric Tutor and Cyclonic Rift sit between $30 and $80.

The serialized card is Emeritus of Ideation in double rainbow foil, 500 individually numbered copies, Collector Booster exclusive and always in English. Copies have changed hands in the low thousands.

Set treatments include borderless planeswalkers, elder dragons and dual lands, a borderless field notes cycle carrying marginalia from Strixhaven's scholars, full-art Spellcraft lands and extended-art rares. Main-set singles are unremarkable by comparison: Emeritus of Ideation, Emeritus of Woe and the paradigm cards lead a list topping out in the mid teens.

Is Secrets of Strixhaven worth buying sealed?

This is the one current in-universe set where the sealed market has genuinely tightened, and the reason is the bonus sheet rather than the set. The original Strixhaven Mystical Archive is remembered as one of the best value-per-pack experiences Magic has produced, and buyers have priced this one as though history will repeat. That is why Play boxes hold list and Collector boxes sit at nearly double MSRP while the set is still being printed.

Be careful with that logic. Secrets of Strixhaven is in print, and Wizards can and will keep supplying a set that is selling well, which caps how far sealed can run. A $580 Collector box needs silver scroll foil hits to justify itself and the treatment appears in under a fifth of packs, so most boxes return well under their price. The Play box is more reasonable: at $180 you are buying 30 guaranteed Mystical Archive cards plus a good limited format that stays Standard legal until 2029, and the floor under the box is higher than for a set without a bonus sheet. Even so, opening for value is still worse than buying the specific cards you want. Buy Play boxes to draft, buy the Codex Bundle if you want a little Collector exposure cheaply, and treat a full Collector box as a discretionary purchase rather than a position.

How to spot fakes, resealed and mapped boxes

A 500-copy serialized card plus a four-figure silver scroll foil makes SOS Collector Boosters one of the most attractive mapping targets in current Magic. On a sealed box check for shrink that is tight at all four corners, an even factory seam that runs straight, and end flaps with no adhesive residue, lifted glue or blade marks. Anything described as opened, checked or verified is not sealed.

Loose Collector Boosters should be avoided from sellers you cannot identify, and that goes double for anything advertised as a "hot pack" or sold at a premium above shop pricing. Silver scroll foil and serialized cards are physically distinguishable, which makes weighing worthwhile for a determined seller. Because the set is in print, the easy protection is to buy from a store receiving cases from distribution and to have them pull your box in front of you. Counterfeit sealed boxes are less common for current releases, but still compare box art print sharpness and the collector information panel if buying remotely.
