A Chrome Updates value pack is the smallest sealed unit of 2025-26 Topps Chrome Updates Basketball: one four-card pack, usually sold loose from a seven-pack value box. Chrome Updates was released on August 6, 2026, and adds the season's later rookies and traded players to the main Chrome set. This page covers what a single pack can and can't do, the parallels exclusive to the value box, and what to pay. Every Chrome Updates format is in our Topps Chrome Updates guide.

Topps sells this format as a value box of seven packs, four cards each, 28 cards in all. The single packs listed on eBay when we checked were loose packs from those boxes, titled "Value Box Pack - 1 Pack - 4 Cards". So the product on this page is four Chrome cards in a sealed wrapper, from a retail box that was opened to sell them one at a time.
That matters for two reasons:
Value boxes carry their own parallels: basketball-textured Refractors numbered from /199 down to /5, and a Red White and Blue parallel. Those are the realistic "good" pulls from a value pack: a numbered Refractor of a rookie. The base set is 200 cards. Inserts include Stratospheric Stars, Power Players and Moment in Time, alongside retail short prints such as Glass Canvas, Paradox and Fanatical.
Cooper Flagg, Dylan Harper and Kon Knueppel lead the rookie autograph chase. In value boxes:
A single value pack is not an autograph product. Buy one for the chance at a numbered Refractor of a rookie you like, or to add a few Updates cards to a base set.
To put the Chromograph odds in pack terms: one in about 133 packs means ten loose packs give roughly a 7% chance of a Chromograph between them. Twenty packs give about 14%. That is before considering whose autograph it would be.
The 2025 draft's top picks lead the checklist, and Flagg, Harper and Knueppel are the autographs everyone is hoping for:
Their numbered value-box Refractors are the cards that sell for a meaningful multiple of the pack price. Base rookie cards from a value pack are inexpensive, and veterans like Tyrese Haliburton and Jayson Tatum fill much of the rest.
A practical approach used by many retail collectors is to pick one rookie, then trade every duplicate and every other player's parallel toward that player's run of numbered Refractors. That turns a pile of four-card packs into progress on one goal instead of a stack of base cards. The 2025-26 Chrome Updates blaster, listed from $45, is the next step up if single packs feel too small.
| Format | Seen on eBay (6 Oct) |
|---|---|
| Single value pack (4 cards) | $8.49-$9.95 |
| Full 7-pack value box | $118.49 (one listing) |
| 2025-26 Chrome Updates blaster box | From $45 |
At $8.49 to $9.95 a pack, seven loose packs cost $59 to $70. The one full value box listed asked $118.49, well above that, so for now loose packs are the cheaper way to buy online. A sealed box from a store shelf is still the safer one, because the packs have not been handled.
Most collectors who end up happy with Chrome Updates retail decided in advance what they were chasing, usually one rookie's parallel rainbow, and treated every pack as a lottery ticket priced like one.
Check for a flat, even crimp at both ends of the wrapper, and for any sign the pack was opened and resealed. Prefer sellers who show the pack front and back. Better still, buy a sealed value box from a store and open the packs yourself; card shops in our card shop directory often have them. On eBay:
Four. A full value box holds seven packs, 28 cards in all.
Basketball-textured Refractor parallels numbered from /199 down to /5, and a Red White and Blue parallel.
Chromographs fall about once in 19 value boxes, and Topps Chrome Autographs about once per 32 to 33 cases.
