Apr 2026from $1,012.541 sealed products

Cosmic Chrome is Topps Chrome dressed up for outer space: space-themed inserts, galaxy-pattern refractors and an autograph set called Alien Autographs. The 2025-26 basketball edition was released on April 29, 2026, in the first season of Topps holding the NBA license again, with Cooper Flagg and Dylan Harper at the top of the rookie autographs. This page explains what a hobby box gives you, the odds that matter and current prices. Other years are in our Topps Cosmic Chrome Basketball guide.

The one fact to absorb before buying: a Cosmic Chrome hobby box does not promise an autograph. It is built to deliver inserts and parallels, 20 of its 80 cards by design, with autographs as the long shot on top.

Autograph odds

  • Cosmic Chrome Autographs: the main set, 48 cards, about 1 in 383 packs. With 20 packs per box, that is roughly one per 19 boxes, or about one per two to three cases. Cooper Flagg and Dylan Harper lead it.
  • Alien Autographs: 32 cards of Hall of Famers and current stars, about 1 in 1,235 packs.
  • Electro Static, First Flight and Singularity Signatures: smaller signature sets at their own rarities.

All autographs are hard-signed. In practice an individual box is a parallel-and-insert product, and anyone who needs a Flagg autograph should buy the card or a spot in a case break rather than a single box.

Even a full case is no promise. Eight boxes is 160 packs, and at 1 in 383 that averages well under one Cosmic Chrome Autograph per case, which is why breakers sell case spots by team rather than promising signatures.

The rookie class behind the price

The 2025 draft's top four are all in the product: Cooper Flagg (first overall, Dallas), Dylan Harper (second, San Antonio), VJ Edgecombe (third, Philadelphia) and Kon Knueppel (fourth, Charlotte). Flagg and Harper anchor the Cosmic Chrome Autographs set. 2025-26 is also the first season of Topps basketball with the NBA license back, so these are licensed Topps rookie cards from the class's debut season, which is what collectors pay the premium for.

Of a box's 80 cards, 20 are guaranteed parallels or inserts, and the other 60 are base cards from the 200-card set. A box usually has a handful of rookie base cards, a Nucleus Refractor and three other parallels, and a run of space-themed inserts. That is the honest picture of an average box at $1,000-plus.

The inserts that give it its name

The insert program is where this product spends its effort:

  • Planetary Pursuit: 100 cards spread over nine tiers named for the Sun and planets, from Sun down to Pluto, each tier rarer than the last.
  • Galaxy Greats: 35 retired legends, about 1 in 6 packs.
  • Space Walk: 15 cards with their own imagery.
  • Extraterrestrial Talent: 25 of the league's best.

The 200-card base set mixes stars such as LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Victor Wembanyama with the rookie class, and its Refractor parallels run from about 1 in 10 packs down to SuperFractor 1/1s.

First Day Issue and Lunar boxes

Two special box types sit alongside the standard hobby box. Limited First Day Issue boxes carry exclusive parallels. Much rarer Lunar boxes hold one Lunar Refractor short print in every pack.

Five months after release, boxes are asking 12 to 44 percent over the release price. The Flagg rookie year is the likely reason. A first-season Topps product with the most anticipated rookie in years tends to hold up while that rookie is playing well. The flip side: the price depends on one player's season more than most boxes do.

Cosmic Chrome or regular Topps Chrome?

Both share the 2025-26 rookie class and the Chrome card stock. Pick Cosmic Chrome for the themed inserts and the Planetary Pursuit chase. Pick flagship Topps Chrome or Chrome Updates for a lower box price and a standard autograph set, if inserts are not why you are buying.

Buying a sealed box

Every listing in our check was factory sealed, but a high-priced Chrome box is worth checking: the Topps shrink should be tight, with the seal sticker intact and no tape. Buying from a shop that broke its own case means the box has not been weighed or swapped. Find one through our card shop directory, or search eBay:
