Hobby Box
The 2003-04 Focus hobby box is 24 packs of five cards, 120 cards in total, and it was released on January 1, 2004. There is no guaranteed autograph or memorabilia card; the draw is the base rookie content and the Future Focus rookie subset, which is serial numbered to 499. Retailers have carried asking prices around $1,250 for this box, which sets the top of a realistic range.
Blaster Box
A six-pack retail blaster existed for 2003-04 and is a cheap way to open the product. Blasters carry no exclusive parallels of consequence and are the format most likely to have been searched, particularly in the LeBron season.
Jersey Edition
The 2001-02 Fleer Focus Jersey Edition is a separate product built around game-used memorabilia rather than base set building. It is a different animal from the base Focus release of the same season and should be priced separately; listings routinely conflate the two.
Case
Cases from all Focus seasons surface occasionally and trade at roughly the sum of their boxes. There is no case-hit structure to justify buying at case level.

There is no 2002-03 Fleer Focus, which trips up buyers looking for a Yao Ming rookie in this line. The 2003-04 box is the only season with real money attached, and it is priced entirely on LeBron. Its Future Focus rookies numbered to 499 are the specific chase, along with the Auto Focus autograph inserts. Everything before it trades in double or low triple figures and is best treated as inexpensive product to open. As always with Fleer-era wax, these are indicative bands: sealed Focus turns up sporadically and asking prices sit well above what boxes actually clear at.
Chase cards, parallels and hit rates
The base structure across the run pairs an unnumbered base set with serial-numbered rookie subsets. In 2003-04 that is Future Focus, numbered to 499, plus multiple parallel tiers of the base set. The insert lineup changed each season: Season Pass in 2000-01, Materialistic Home and Away and Numbers in 2001-02, and Home and Aways, NBA Shirtified, Tag Team and Auto Focus in 2003-04, with print runs varying by set. Jersey Edition is built around game-used swatches rather than inserts. Nothing in the base Focus product is guaranteed, so a box can and often does deliver only base cards and a numbered rookie. Redemption cards from any of these seasons went unhonored after Fleer's 2005 closure.
Is Fleer Focus worth buying sealed?
The 2003-04 box is a LeBron rookie lottery at a price that already assumes you might hit. At 120 cards per box with a Future Focus subset numbered to 499, the probability of pulling a numbered LeBron is low, and the base LeBron rookie from this set is not among his more valuable ones. That makes the box a fair break for fun and a poor investment at the top of its range. The 1999-00 through 2001-02 boxes are genuinely cheap, contain reasonable rookie classes and are a low-risk way to open early-2000s wax. Jersey Edition is worth a look if you like memorabilia from that era, though swatch values have declined a long way. Nobody should be buying Focus for appreciation.
How to spot fakes and resealed boxes
The main risk on this line is searched retail and searched 2003-04 hobby, because the LeBron content makes it worth someone's time. Numbered rookies and memorabilia cards differ in stock from base, so packs can be weighed. On sealed boxes check that the shrink film is factory-tight with a single seam weld, look for softened or scorched corners from a heat gun, and check the box flaps for reglue and lifted print. Blasters from 2003-04 should be treated as suspect unless the wrap is obviously original. Also be careful with naming: 2001-02 Fleer Focus and 2001-02 Fleer Focus Jersey Edition are different products at very different price points, and listings mix them up constantly.
