War Room Hobbies

Cordova tabletop hub with room to sprawl, Magic pre-release events, tournaments that run smoothly, and discounts off MSRP on most of its card product.

War Room Hobbies occupies a suite on Exocet Drive in Cordova, northeast of Memphis, and reviewers consistently describe a lot of space for table-top and card games. That matters for events: a couple who visits only once every few months for a Magic: The Gathering pre-release say they enjoy it every time, thanks to a decent crowd and friendly staff before, during and after play.

The shop sells Warhammer models and painting materials alongside card games. One visitor calls it arguably the best place in town to buy or play, noting that almost all products carry some discount off MSRP and there's plenty of play space. Another praises a tournament run by a staffer named Dan that went exceptionally smoothly. If you're looking for MTG in Memphis or want tournament-style play in a roomy shop, this is a strong pick.

Not everyone agrees on prices. A critical reviewer says you can beat the shop's prices online and has rarely found deals, so compare costs on big-ticket items. Others focus on knowledge, with staff helping with everything from game rules to terrain building.

The schedule favors evenings: 2PM to 10PM Monday through Friday, 10AM to 10PM on Saturday and 1PM to 6PM on Sunday. Saturdays have the longest window and are the likeliest day for organized play. Arrive early on pre-release weekends. Call 901-245-9001 or visit warroomhobbies.com for the current event calendar and to verify specific stock before driving out.
