Walk past the storefront at 6055 Phelan Blvd and you would never guess how deep the building runs. Book Stan has been trading in Southeast Texas for well over a decade, and the interior opens into aisle after aisle of back issues, graphic novels, tabletop systems and card product. Customers say some version of the same thing over and over: it is far bigger on the inside than the sign suggests.

For card players, this is a stocked Wizards-listed store. Magic: The Gathering runs through boosters, precons and accessories, and Pokemon packs sit within easy reach of the counter for the many families who wander in with kids in tow. Dungeons & Dragons, Starfinder, Warhammer 40,000 and Star Trek material round out the game side, along with dice, sleeves, paints and a stack of loaner terrain the local 40K crowd borrows for games.

The counter staff are the reason regulars stay loyal. Reviewers consistently call them friendly and genuinely knowledgeable, and if something is not on the shelf, the standard answer is to order it in rather than shrug. The other fixture is Toby, the shop dog, who greets almost everyone at the door and shows up in more reviews than most of the inventory does.

Hours are steady and generous for the area: 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and again on Saturday, with a later 7 p.m. close on Fridays, and closed Sundays. There is a private lot, the entrance is wheelchair accessible, and cards and Apple Pay are both accepted.

As a Beaumont card shop it plays a slightly different role than the sports-focused stores in town — the pull here is trading card games, minis and comics under one roof, plus a room to gather and play.
