Since 1989 this Mockingbird mainstay has kept Dallas stocked with Pokemon and trading card singles alongside one of the city's best comic walls.
Few Dallas shops can claim regulars who started shopping there in elementary school and now bring their own kids. Keith's Comics has anchored the Mockingbird Lane retail strip at 5400 E Mockingbird since the tail end of the 80s-90s comic boom, and the flagship store still feels like it: tightly packed aisles, retro collectibles on high shelves, and a staff that can identify a run from three panels of description.
Cards are a bigger part of the mix than the name suggests. The shop carries Pokemon TCG boosters and singles, plus other card games and trading cards alongside its anime and manga sections, and the buy counter takes in collections regularly — which means the back-issue and card stock rotates in ways a chain store's never will. TCG directories list Keith's as a legitimate trading card stop, and the store holds a 4.7 Google average across hundreds of reviews.
Events are the standout tradition. Free Comic Book Day turns the parking lot into a small festival every May, and new comic Wednesdays bring the pull-list crowd through the door at noon sharp. The store runs two sibling locations in North Dallas and Garland's Firewheel area, but Mockingbird remains the original and the most character-dense of the three.
Doors open at noon every day: until 6 PM Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 7 PM on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, and 5 PM on Sunday. The private lot out front is free but fills fast on release days, so a short wait or a curb spot on the access road is normal. Whether you are hunting Pokemon singles, a first appearance, or a gift for someone who loves both, this Dallas card shop and comic institution covers the spread in one stop.
