Astral Gaming

Northwest Houston TCG hub on Jones Road for MTG Commander, Pokemon, Lorcana and One Piece, with well-run events, singles and a friendly community.

Astral Gaming on Jones Road is the kind of local game store that players pick even when other shops are closer. One reviewer said they have four card shops nearer to home but choose Astral every time because of how the owners run it.

The store is organized and stocks a good range of Pokemon, Lorcana and One Piece alongside Magic: The Gathering. Commander is a big part of the scene, and new players say the staff helped them learn. One customer who started Magic here this year says they haven't looked back. Singles and sealed product are both on hand.

Events are a strength. Reviewers describe tournaments and nights that run smoothly, and families say they have a great time. Staff earn credit for honesty with younger collectors too. One parent said Sergio explained the value of a nine-year-old's Pokemon cards and sent him home with freebies and tips even though nothing was bought. Be aware that the buylist is selective: one seller found the shop uninterested in older, lower-value cards, so ask before bringing a box to sell.

Hours are 2PM to 9PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, noon to 9PM Saturday and noon to 6PM Sunday. The shop is closed Wednesday. One reviewer noticed the posted door hours didn't match online listings, so check their website before a trip.

Snacks are stocked for long event days, and regulars describe a comfortable store where it's easy to meet other players. The mix of games means Pokemon, Lorcana and One Piece fans share the tables with Commander pods, which gives the room a lively, welcoming energy on event nights.

Astral is on Jones Road in northwest Houston near FM 1960, with parking at the storefront.
