Family-run Longview stop on Gilmer Road for NFL, NBA and MLB wax, vintage sets and PSA or Beckett grading help, with a growing Pokemon case.
The name is plain, and so is the mission: Sports Card Shop on Gilmer Road has spent nearly two decades buying, selling and trading cardboard in East Texas. It is a family-run operation where the owner is usually behind the counter, and that continuity shows in how the shop handles trades and collection buys.
Football, basketball and baseball make up most of the inventory, with new hobby releases from Topps, Panini and Upper Deck arriving on a regular schedule. Beyond fresh wax, the shop keeps vintage singles and complete sets, plus a selection of slabs authenticated by PSA, Beckett and SGC. In recent years the cases have also picked up a healthy Pokemon section, so collectors who split their time between the two hobbies can shop both in one place. Among trading cards Longview has to offer, this is the most sports-focused counter in town.
Services are a big part of the draw. The shop offers free appraisals, buys individual cards and whole collections, and will handle PSA and Beckett grading submissions for customers who would rather not deal with the paperwork themselves. Trade-in values are based on current market comps, so you can bring your own research and have a real conversation about numbers. An eBay storefront runs alongside the brick-and-mortar shop for anyone who wants to browse remotely before driving over.
Hours are 10AM to 5PM Monday through Saturday, and the store is closed on Sunday, so weekday lunch breaks and Saturday mornings are the best windows. If you are bringing in a collection for appraisal, a quick call ahead to 903-291-8135 helps make sure someone has time to go through it with you.
Because the shop focuses so squarely on sports, it is also a good place to pick up the practical gear that goes with the hobby: top loaders, one-touch magnetic holders, team bags and storage boxes. Collectors visiting from smaller East Texas towns without a local shop often make it a regular stop when they are in Longview.
