Three Suns Unlimited

Longview's tabletop and Magic: The Gathering hangout on Gilmer Road, with sealed MTG product, plenty of play tables and late hours until 10PM.

Three Suns Unlimited is less a card counter and more a community game hall. The family-owned store on Gilmer Road pairs retail shelves with a large open play area, and on most evenings those tables are filled with people playing Magic, testing board games, or just hanging out between rounds.

Magic: The Gathering is the store's strongest card game draw. It stocks sealed MTG product, including booster boxes, and its selection draws players from across the surrounding East Texas towns. Regular Magic play nights keep the store busy, and the staff are comfortable teaching newer or returning players the rules and helping them tune a deck. For anyone looking for a Longview card shop with a real play space for MTG, this is the clear pick.

The other half of the business is tabletop gaming in general. A library of demo games can be played for free in the store, and the shelves carry a wide range of board games and jigsaw puzzles for sale. That mix makes Three Suns a good fit for families and groups who want a night out that is not just about cards, while still giving dedicated Magic players a home base.

Three Suns opens at noon every day except Sunday, when it is closed. It runs until 9PM Monday through Wednesday and stays open until 10PM Thursday through Saturday, so those later nights are when the play area is at its liveliest. Call 903-653-4890 to ask about the current event calendar before heading over, since the schedule changes with new set releases. It sits just a short walk along Gilmer Road from Sports Card Shop, so sports collectors and gamers can easily visit both.

Newcomers should not feel shy about walking in mid-game. The space is set up for people to drop in, watch a match, and ask questions, and the demo shelf gives non-card-players in a group something to do while the Magic crowd plays. Bring your own deck and sleeves if you have them, and plan to buy a drink or a pack to support the table space.
