YellowHammer Cards & Gaming

YellowHammer Cards & Gaming is one of Birmingham's most beloved card shops, known for its exceptional customer service, high-end inventory, and friendly community atmosphere on US-280. Named after Alabama's state bird, this shop proudly represents the spirit of the Yellowhammer State.

YellowHammer Cards & Gaming has earned its reputation as one of the finest card shops in the Birmingham metropolitan area, and collectors who make the trip to the US-280 corridor are rarely disappointed. Named after Alabama's iconic state bird, the yellowhammer woodpecker, the shop captures the energy and warmth that defines Southern collecting culture.

Owner Jeff has assembled a shop that feels like a treasure trove from the moment you walk in. Cards are thoughtfully organized and displayed, but with enough depth and variety that you're likely to stumble upon something unexpected and exciting on every visit. The shop carries a wide range of sports cards across all four major professional sports — baseball, football, basketball, and hockey — with particular strength in high-end modern releases and certified autographs.

YellowHammer is a recognized PSA submission center, making it easy for local collectors to submit cards for professional grading without having to navigate the process alone. The staff can guide you through the options, assess whether a card is a good grading candidate, and handle the logistics of submission. Graded slabs from PSA, BGS, and SGC are also available for purchase, representing players from every era of the hobby.

The shop stays current with new releases and is typically stocked for launch day on major products from Topps, Panini, and Pokémon. TCG collectors will find a solid selection of Pokémon sealed product and singles, as well as Magic: The Gathering and other trading card games. The store's TCGPlayer storefront also makes it easy to shop online and arrange in-store pickup.

Customers rave about the staff's depth of knowledge and their willingness to spend time helping both beginners and advanced collectors. The family-friendly atmosphere makes it a great destination for parents introducing kids to the hobby. One reviewer drove from Florida and called it one of the most fun days he'd ever had in a card shop. YellowHammer is conveniently located on US-280 in the Inverness area of Birmingham with ample parking.
