Next Week in Card Releases (Sept 14-20): Artifacts Hockey, Definitive Basketball and Two Premium Soccer Sets

This week finished with Bowman Chrome Baseball, Upper Deck DC Platinum, Topps Chrome MLS and Topps Universe WWE. Next week is quieter on volume but heavier on price per box, with three premium products and the start of the hockey card season.

Wednesday, September 16

2026-27 Upper Deck Artifacts Hockey

Artifacts opens the new hockey season. Hobby boxes average two autograph, memorabilia or technology hits, four numbered cards, one Aurum card and one rookie redemption or acetate card. Blaster boxes follow September 23.

Artifacts has historically been a reasonable entry point into a new hockey rookie class - numbered cards throughout, redemptions for players who have not signed yet, and a price that does not require a second mortgage. If you are trying to get in early on this season's rookie crop, this is the first real chance.

Also arriving September 16: Upper Deck DC Platinum Blaster boxes, the retail follow-up to this week's hobby release.

Thursday, September 17

2026-27 Topps English Premier League Soccer

Topps' Premier League flagship covers all 20 clubs. Hobby boxes average three autographs, relics or autograph relics, plus Chrome Classics cards and numbered parallels. Inserts include All Kings, Home Pitch and Gold Lion.

2025-26 Topps Definitive Basketball

An eight-card premium box with six autographs. The checklist runs Cooper Flagg, Kon Knueppel and Dylan Harper alongside established stars and legends, with framed autographs, rookie patch autographs, multi-player signatures and Definitive Nameplates.

Note the timing: this lands one week into the Fanatics Collect Premier auction featuring the Flagg, Harper and Knueppel one-of-one debut patch autos. Rookie-class attention will be at a local maximum. Whether that is a reason to buy or a reason to wait depends entirely on whether you are ripping for fun or trying to time a market.

2025-26 Panini Noir Basketball

Noir returns with an eight-card box averaging five autographs, one memorabilia card and two base cards, parallels or inserts. Spotlight Signatures, Sneaker Spotlight, Captions and Dual Signatures lead the high-end content.

2025-26 Topps UEFA Club Competitions Museum Collection Soccer

Eight cards per hobby box: one autograph, one relic, one autograph relic and one numbered base parallel. The 100-card base set mixes emerging players with global stars and legends, and Museum Roll of Honor adds another autograph chase.

2026 Saturday Morning Cards Matt Cardona Major Wrestling Podcast

A small, specific release - one encapsulated card per box, with numbered parallels, one-of-one blacks and original sketch cards. Built for the podcast's audience rather than the broad wrestling card market.

How to Read a Week Like This

Four of next week's six products are premium boxes - Definitive, Noir, Museum Collection and, to a degree, Artifacts. That means small box counts, high per-card expectations and a secondary market that reacts violently to the first week of break results.

A useful rule for premium week: singles almost always beat boxes if what you actually want is a specific card. A $500 box with six autographs sounds better than buying one $300 autograph until you realize five of the six will be players you do not collect. Boxes are for the experience. Singles are for the collection.

Release dates move. Distributors reallocate, products slip a week, and shops sometimes get product early or late. Confirm with your shop before you plan a trip around a date.
