Wacky Packages Gets Chrome for the First Time in 53 Years

Wacky Packages is back for 2026, and after 53 years of stickers, Topps is finally putting the brand on Chrome stock. 2026 Topps Wacky Packages All New Series is a Topps.com exclusive, with presales that opened August 10.

If you have never taken Wacky Packages seriously as a collectible, the Chrome addition is a reasonable moment to start paying attention.

What Is in the Set

The core release is built around 36 brand-new gags, illustrated by returning Wacky Packages artists. The formula has not changed since 1973: take a recognizable consumer brand, distort the name and packaging into a joke, and render it in loving detail.

The Chrome Debut

This is the headline. Wacky Packages has never had a Chrome edition. For 2026, Topps is adding:

• Chrome parallels of the base gags
• Red Refractor parallels numbered to 5
• Additional refractor tiers alongside them

Chrome stock does something specific to this art style. The originals are painted in flat, saturated grocery-shelf colors, and putting that on a reflective substrate changes how the joke reads. Whether you like it is a matter of taste. Whether it will be scarce is not really in question at /5.

Inserts

Three insert sets are confirmed:

• Flashback — callbacks to classic Wacky Packages series
• Mars Attacks Wacky Packs — a crossover with Topps' other long-running non-sport property
• Wonky Packages — a new concept for 2026

The Mars Attacks crossover is the one to watch. Both properties have dedicated collector bases that overlap less than you would expect, and crossover cards tend to draw from both.

Two categories of premium content:

Artist Autographs

Signed by the illustrators who actually drew the gags. Wacky Packages artists have a real following, and autographs from the long-tenured names have held value well in the secondary market.

One-of-One Sketch Cards

Original hand-drawn art, unique. In non-sport collecting, sketch cards are frequently the most valuable thing in a product, and they behave very differently from numbered parallels: value tracks the artist and the subject rather than scarcity, because every one is already a 1-of-1.

Wacky Packages is a genuinely different corner of the hobby. It has no rookies, no player performance, no grading population reports driving prices. Value comes from art, nostalgia, and scarcity, in that order.
