Willow Glen's combination comic-and-TCG shop, born from the Hijinx Comics takeover, now stacked with Pokemon singles and weekly Magic events.
Heroes & Champions Willow Glen took over the legendary Hijinx Comics footprint at 2050 Lincoln Avenue back in 2022 and has spent the years since turning it into one of San Jose's most balanced comic-and-card stores. The front of the shop still reads as a comic shop — new release wall, back-issue boxes along the side — but turn right past the counter and the trading cards San Jose collectors care about take over the back third of the floor.
Pokemon cards San Jose players hunt sit in a flip case along the back wall: current SV chase pulls, vintage WOTC holos in a separate locked case, and a steady binder rotation that staff actually keep updated. The Magic: The Gathering footprint runs nearly as deep, with singles organized by color and format, sealed product running along a side wall, and a play space that hosts weekly Commander nights and Friday Night Magic.
What separates this San Jose card shop from the pure-TCG competition is the comic integration. You can drop in for a graphic novel haul, walk out with a Pokemon Tag Team ETB, and stop at the showcase case to look at a slab on the way. The team is patient with questions and treats the place as a community hub — kids running league nights, adults talking Commander brews, regulars dropping by just to chat with the staff.
Hours are consistent — 11 to 6 every day of the week, which is rare enough in the Bay Area card shop scene to be worth calling out. Parking in Willow Glen is easy on the side streets, and the neighborhood pairs perfectly with a coffee or dinner stop before or after.
For collectors who appreciate a shop with deep San Jose roots and a staff that actually talks to you, Heroes & Champions is the most natural Willow Glen visit.
