Stronghold Collectibles of Acadiana

Stronghold Collectibles of Acadiana has been serving Lafayette collectors from the same location since 1984 — over 40 years of hobby expertise. This legendary Acadiana shop offers new comics, back issues, key books, sports cards, trading card games, and CGC grading submissions under one roof.

Stronghold Collectibles of Acadiana is a true institution in the Louisiana hobby community, having operated from the same Johnston Street location in Lafayette for over 40 years. Founded in 1984, Stronghold has survived the ebb and flow of the comics and collectibles market, multiple industry upheavals, and the rise of digital competition to remain the go-to destination for Acadiana collectors across multiple generations. Walking through the doors of Stronghold is stepping into decades of hobby history, with a store that feels deeply rooted in the community it serves.

The comics section at Stronghold is exceptional by any measure. New issues arrive every Wednesday, making Stronghold a weekly pilgrimage for Acadiana's dedicated pull-list subscribers. The back issue inventory is vast and well-catalogued, with a particular strength in key issues, first appearances, and Silver Age material that draws collectors from across south Louisiana. Staff are highly knowledgeable about comic history and grading, making them excellent resources for collectors evaluating their collections or hunting for specific books.

Beyond comics, Stronghold has evolved into a full-service collectibles destination. Sports cards are well-represented, with sealed product, singles, and hobby boxes covering football, basketball, baseball, and more. The shop is a CGC-authorized dealer, meaning collectors can submit their books and cards for professional grading directly through the store — a significant convenience for serious collectors. Trading card games including Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon are also part of the inventory, with a regular tournament presence that brings players together for organized play.

Sporting a loyal customer base built across four decades, Stronghold's reputation in the Lafayette community is unmatched. Parents who collected comics here as teenagers now bring their own children in to discover the hobby — a multigenerational connection that few retail stores can claim. The staff reflects the shop's longevity, combining deep expertise with a genuine love for the material they sell.

For collectors traveling through the Cajun Country or relocating to the Lafayette area, Stronghold Collectibles of Acadiana is a mandatory stop. Few stores anywhere in the country can match its combination of history, depth of inventory, and community standing. Forty-plus years in business at the same location is a record worth celebrating.
