Steamship Games occupies a long, warm storefront on Lake Street in Uptown Minneapolis that doubles as Steamship Coffee. The hybrid is the whole point: retail counter and card cases up front, espresso bar in the middle, a few dozen play seats in back. You can grab a Magic the Gathering booster, pour an oat milk latte, and sit down to draft without ever leaving the room.

The Pokemon cards Minneapolis crowd treats this place as the Uptown anchor. New Pokemon sealed lands on release day, the singles binder runs deep on current Scarlet & Violet block, and there is usually a Pokemon player or two in residence at the back tables. What makes Steamship a destination beyond inventory is the room. South Uptown patrons drop in to study, take meetings, or kill an hour, and the staff handle the mixed crowd well — the shop is genuinely queer-friendly and welcoming to first-time TCG players. The loyalty program is real, and the coffee menu is full-service rather than a side experiment.
