West Asheville staple on Haywood Road with a back room given over entirely to Pokemon singles and packs, plus Wednesday Pokemon nights.
Haywood Road is West Asheville's spine, and Morgan's Comics sits right on it at number 600, sandwiched into a strip that gets steady foot traffic all day. From the sidewalk it reads as a comic shop. Walk to the back and the picture changes: there is a room given over almost entirely to Pokemon, singles and sealed packs both, and it is the reason a lot of people make the trip.
The rest of the store is a genuine grab bag in the best sense. Comics and toys, vinyl records, board and card games, video games and consoles both current and retro. It is the kind of inventory mix that rewards slow browsing, and the shop leans into that rather than trying to look like a streamlined retail floor.
Community is the other half of the pitch. Morgan's runs a Pokemon night on Wednesdays, which pulls in a steady mix of kids, parents and adult players and turns a normally quiet midweek evening into the busiest stretch of the week. If you want to trade rather than just buy, that is the night to show up. If you want quiet time in the singles boxes, pick almost any other afternoon.
Hours run 11AM to 6PM most days with a longer Thursday that stretches to 8PM, and unlike a lot of the region's card counters the shop is open Sunday on the same 11AM to 6PM schedule. That Sunday coverage is genuinely useful when you are mapping out trading cards Asheville trips, since several other local shops close entirely.
Street parking on Haywood can get tight during dinner hours, so an earlier arrival saves circling. The location also puts you within a short walk of most of West Asheville's food and coffee, which makes it an easy anchor for a longer afternoon.
