Austintown Sports Cards

Tidy Mahoning Avenue shop on Youngstown's west side where the cases stay sorted, stock turns weekly and the owners price to sell rather than to sit.

Small shops live or die on whether the case is organized, and that is the first thing reviewers mention about Austintown Sports Cards. The Mahoning Avenue suite is clean, tightly merchandised, and restocked often enough that regulars check back weekly. At 4.8 stars it is one of the highest-rated card shops in the Youngstown area.

The inventory is sports-first: baseball, football, basketball, and hockey singles, sealed hobby boxes and blasters, graded holders, and a memorabilia shelf. Buying is an active part of the business rather than an afterthought — the shop advertises that it is always buying, and reviewers who have sold collections here describe offers made without pressure. One customer noted the owners treated them well and did not try to oversell or over-price anything, which is the kind of detail that keeps a small shop's rating high.

Hours are short and daytime-only, so plan accordingly. Monday through Friday runs 10AM to 5PM and Saturday closes early at 3PM; Sunday the shop is dark. There is no evening window, which makes Saturday morning the practical slot for anyone working a weekday shift.

The trade-off for the clean presentation is scale. This is not a warehouse — the selection is curated rather than exhaustive, and a collector hunting deep vintage runs may find the shelf shallower than at a bigger operation. What it does well is modern sports cards Youngstown collectors actually want, priced sensibly and easy to find in the case.

The 6000 Mahoning Avenue plaza is on the west side of Youngstown with a large shared lot. If you are bringing cards in to sell, call first — the owners work by appointment for larger collections rather than pricing a shoebox at the counter mid-afternoon.
