Youngstown Sportscards

"It's not just Cards, It's an Experience" — Boardman-Poland Road shop running Facebook Live breaks alongside a full wall of wax and sorted sports singles.

Owner George runs Youngstown Sportscards on a slogan he actually means: it's not just cards, it's an experience. In practice that means the shop functions as much like a broadcast studio as a retail counter. Facebook Live card breaks run on a regular schedule, with buyers claiming spots remotely and watching the rips in real time, and the in-store crowd often gathers to watch the same box open.

The retail side is conventional and deep. A wall of sealed wax covers current-year flagship and premium releases across baseball, football, and basketball. Sorted singles fill the cases, with vintage getting its own section and memorabilia scattered through the store. The shop grew out of a Poland-area operation during the pandemic-era sports card boom and opened this second Boardman-Poland Road location to handle the volume.

Service is the recurring theme in reviews. One customer described staff who went above and beyond accommodating their children's every question, turning a browse into an afternoon. Another was blunter about the owner: George is as good of a guy as it gets, and you don't find that honesty and integrity in card shops anymore. The 4.2-star average across 56 reviews includes the usual friction over buy offers, but the tone skews warm.

Hours are the most accessible of any Youngstown card shop. Monday through Friday run 10AM to 6PM, and unlike most of the competition the doors stay open both weekend days — Saturday and Sunday 11AM to 5PM. A Sunday afternoon here is a realistic plan, which is rare in this market.

Boardman-Poland Road is easy to reach from I-680 with parking at the door. The shop also runs an online store, so you can check what's in stock before the drive, and breaks are announced on its social channels a day or two out.
