Justin and Heather opened The Gaming Hoard in 2023 on the northeast corner of 91st and Aspen, tucked behind the CVS. The concept is deliberately split down the middle: one side of the store handles trading cards, the other handles retro and modern video games, from NES cartridges through Switch. That mix means a family can walk in with three different interests and everyone finds something.
On the card side, Pokemon gets the most shelf space — singles, graded slabs, sealed product, and bulk for players building decks on a budget. Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Lorcana and Star Wars Unlimited each hold their own section, and the tabletop wall carries Dungeons & Dragons books and miniatures. The weekly rhythm is unusual and worth planning around. The shop is closed Wednesday and Sunday entirely. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday run noon to 8PM. Friday and Saturday are the long days — 11AM to 10PM — and that is when organized play and the browsing crowd overlap. If you want to actually sit down and play, aim for a Friday or Saturday evening.
The space itself is compact and well-lit, with product organized tightly enough that you can scan the whole inventory in fifteen minutes if you are just checking for a restock. Owners are usually behind the counter rather than staff, which is why the customer service comments skew personal.
