Long-running Carrick collectibles counter on Brownsville Rd in Pittsburgh, selling current Pokemon sets and buying card collections on a part-time schedule.
Collectors Den has been selling cards from a small storefront on Brownsville Road in Carrick since the early days of the Pokemon craze, and plenty of South Pittsburgh adults remember buying their first booster packs here as kids. The shop still has that mom-and-pop feel: a single room, glass cases, and an owner who has run the counter for decades.
The focus today is straightforward. Collectors Den sells current Pokemon sets alongside other trading cards and general collectibles, and it buys collections. The owner is direct about what he will and will not purchase, and sellers with smaller lots can expect a quick, no-nonsense evaluation. Prices on some items run higher than online marketplaces, but the shop remains competitive for in-person buying, and long-time customers value being able to talk cards with someone who has watched the hobby since the late 1990s.
This is not a tournament venue or a hangout space; think of it as a neighborhood counter where you stop in, look through the cases, and talk shop. That nostalgia factor is part of the appeal, and for Pokemon cards in Pittsburgh's southern neighborhoods it is one of the few independent options within city limits.
The biggest thing to know is the limited schedule. Google currently lists the store as open only 3PM to 7PM on Monday and 2PM to 6PM on Saturday, and closed the rest of the week. Calling ahead is strongly recommended before making a special trip, especially if you plan to bring a collection to sell. Street parking is available along Brownsville Road. The shop sits on the main Carrick business corridor, so it pairs easily with other errands in the neighborhood. Bring a list of what you are looking for, since inventory turns over with every collection the owner buys.
