Panini Mosaic Baseball: Hobby Box, Retail & Sealed Prices (2021-2022)

from $20.0010 sealed products

Panini Mosaic baseball lasted two editions, 2021 and 2022, before Panini dropped it from the baseball calendar. It brought the tiled Mosaic Prizm design over from basketball and football, paired it with the brand's big-photo layouts and Stained Glass and Swing Change inserts, and packed three autographs into a hobby box that also carried five Silver and two Red Mosaic Prizms. Like every Panini baseball product it has no MLB license, so logos are airbrushed and cards use city names, and it was produced under the MLBPA players' license Panini held through 2025. With only two years to collect and a 2022 checklist headlined by Bobby Witt Jr. and Julio Rodriguez, it has become a small back-catalog product with a dedicated following.

Box formats for Panini Mosaic

Hobby Box

The Mosaic hobby box holds 10 packs of 15 cards with three autographs, five Silver Mosaic Prizms and two Red Mosaic Prizms per box. Suggested pricing was $388.95 for 2022 and the product sat at distributors until it was discounted to about $300; the secondary market is thin and wide, with 2022 boxes selling anywhere from $110 to $290 in the past year and $150-$290 the realistic range as of August 2026. The 2021 box sells for $100-$200.

FOTL Hobby Box

First Off The Line boxes came with exclusive Choice-style Mosaic parallels and a FOTL autograph. They sell at a consistent premium: 2022 FOTL boxes trade at $300-$380 and 2021 FOTL boxes at $325-$425.

Mega Box

Retail megas carried retail-exclusive Mosaic colors (Reactive Blue, Reactive Yellow, Camo Pink) and typically one autograph or memorabilia card. They sell for $45-$80 sealed.

Blaster Box

Blasters had no guaranteed hit and the retail-only Mosaic patterns. Expect $25-$45 sealed, with 2022 blasters at the upper end because of the Witt and Rodriguez rookies.

Hobby Case

A case is 12 hobby boxes. They are rarely offered; figure $1,800-$3,000 depending on year and how the seller prices the FOTL-adjacent premium.

Recent years: prices and key rookies

2021 (Oct 2021)$100-$200FOTL $325-$425; mega $45-$70Randy Arozarena, Alec Bohm, Ke'Bryan Hayes, Jarred Kelenic, Jo Adell

The 2022 box is the one to own. It has the stronger rookie class by a wide margin, it is the last edition of the line and the three-autograph configuration with seven numbered-or-Silver Mosaics per box makes it one of the more loaded Panini baseball boxes ever made at its current price. The 2021 box is the brand's debut year, which carries some appeal on its own, but the checklist does not have a headline rookie and it trades on the parallels rather than any single card. Both years have moved around a lot because volume is low; one or two FOTL sales can distort the averages in a given month.

Chase cards, parallels and hit rates

Mosaic's chase is the parallel rainbow: Silver Mosaic, then Green, Blue, Red /99, Orange /25, Gold /10, Black 1/1 and the patterned Choice and Genesis versions, plus the retail-only Reactive and Camo colors. Every hobby box carried five Silvers and two Reds by design, which is unusual for Panini and is a big part of why the 2022 box is liked. Inserts include Stained Glass (a case hit), Swing Change, Stare Masters, Will to Win and Give and Go, with Stained Glass of the top rookies the cards that sell above box price.

Autographs were Rookie Autographs and Mosaic Autographs, largely on sticker, with numbered Mosaic parallels of each. Three per box was the guarantee, not an average, and Gold /10 and Black 1/1 rookie Mosaics ran at roughly one per case.

Is Panini Mosaic worth buying sealed?

For a rip, 2022 Mosaic at $150-$290 delivers three autographs and seven guaranteed Mosaic Prizms, which is more guaranteed content than Prizm or Select at similar money; the average return is still under the box price because unlicensed autographs sell for less. As a sealed hold, the two-year run works in its favor: there is no new Mosaic baseball diluting the market, the 2022 class is proven and boxes were discounted heavily at launch, which means the sealed supply was opened cheaply rather than stockpiled. The 2021 box is a debut-year novelty more than an investment. Pay attention to the wide price band and buy toward the bottom of it.

How to spot fakes and resealed boxes

Mosaic hobby boxes ship in shrink with a Panini tamper label on the lid and a configuration sticker on the side, and the 15-card packs are thick enough that autograph packs are hard to distinguish by feel, which limits searching. FOTL boxes carry a First Off The Line sticker on the outer wrap. Because 2022 boxes sold at deep discounts in 2023, a cheap listing is not automatically suspect, but a box with plain shrink and no Panini label has been opened. Retail blasters and megas from 2022 have been searched for the Witt and Rodriguez Mosaics, so check for factory-tight shrink and clean heat seams and skip loose packs.

Where to buy Panini Mosaic sealed

Mosaic baseball is a secondary-market product now. Dealers at card shows are the most reliable source for sealed hobby and FOTL boxes, and some shops in the card shop directory still have 2022 boxes from the discounted allocation. On eBay:

Frequently asked questions

Is Panini Mosaic baseball licensed?

No. Mosaic baseball was never licensed by MLB, so the cards show airbrushed uniforms without team logos. Panini produced it under an MLBPA players' license, which the company held through 2025.

Is Panini Mosaic baseball still made?

No. Mosaic baseball ran for two editions, 2021 and 2022, and the November 2022 release was the last. Panini still makes other baseball lines such as Donruss and Prizm.

How much is a Panini Mosaic baseball hobby box?

As of August 2026, 2022 hobby boxes sell for $150-$290 and 2021 boxes for $100-$200. FOTL boxes run $300-$425.

What comes in a Mosaic baseball hobby box?

Ten packs of 15 cards with three autographs, five Silver Mosaic Prizms and two Red Mosaic Prizms per box.

Which Mosaic baseball year is better, 2021 or 2022?

2022, for the Bobby Witt Jr. and Julio Rodriguez rookie class and because it was the final edition. 2021 is the debut year but has a weaker checklist.

What is the difference between a Mosaic hobby box and a mega box?

The hobby box has 10 packs of 15 cards with three autographs and hobby-only Mosaic colors. Mega boxes are retail with exclusive Reactive and Camo parallels and usually one hit.
